Think it was more the giant holes the OL and other blockers created and the fact that Fletcher wasn't touched near the LOS on most of those runs than whether he lined up in the pistol vs the shotgun.

Masterclass in blocking throughout that tape.

Was listening to every podcast I could find after the game, and I believe it was Brent Rollins on Pollack’s show that said Fletcher ran for 151 yards on 12 carries out of pistol. I do think it puts some hesitation in the defense, and I’d like to see us utilize it more this year and going forward.

Maybe it's just me, but Fletcher looked different in this game. Hit the holes quicker, had more burst.
I also think the A&M DL was wearing out by the 4th Q. Couldn't handle our OL.
Loved the play when Daniels moved into the interior and took out a linebacker. Not sure I've seen that before.

But I did notice a lot his good carry’s come out of the pistol formation..
Down hill ,it seem to give him a chance shift angles or is it just me?

In the shotgun formation the RB is offset Left/Right to the QB. In order to receive the handoff, the RB has to turn their body and cross the QB. As a defense, if the RB is on the left side of the QB, I'm going to set my strength to the right side.

In the pistol, the QB turns to handoff. The RB is mostly facing the LOS so there is better vision during the approach. The formation is more balanced and defenses can't just set their strength to the opposite side. RB can also start at full depth and have a longer approach to the line to build up speed.
