Didn't they only have 3 down lineman on that play? Did they ban wedge blocking?Inside zone from the 1, pretty much sums up the season ..poorly called play that was executed poorly by bad players
Paying $4 million to a mid-major university to buyout a head coach who had never coached a single game in his career while not interviewing anyone else for the job. THAT is the worst play call of all time.
Or maybe it was lack of confidence for his defense to stop Va with any time left on clock. Offense was clicking at the timeManny tried to impress at the end with his clock management to kick the field goal and win the game. His lack of confidence in his team to score a td is the tell. He coaches scared and is unaware of his own teams ability. I have to believe lashlee would have liked the TD. The transfer portal has produced the more coached up players. The whole game was the worst play call for me.
Folks bash MD for going for the FG with a freshman kicker. But they say he should have gone for a TD — with a freshman QB.To be honest… I don’t knock Miami not trying to score a touchdown. You have a freshman QB in really his first real start. Yes he was playing better as the game went on but ****t gets real in the red zone when the games on the line. If he would have thrown a pick everyone would have screamed for Manny’s head anyway saying we should have kicked the field goal. We were moving the rock running the ball with tempo, but then you don’t want to leave too much time on the clock.
Also, let’s say we do score a touchdown. Are you confident our defense would stop them from scoring? We should all know the answer to that.
It’s easy to have an opinion after the fact but I’m not going to entirely bash that decision. I understand it. And yes I understand Borregales is a freshman as well……
I hear you, but I disagree. There was 1:37 left at the 14 yard line. They wasted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd downs on that drive with predictable ***** playcalling. I was beyond disgusted. Yes, obviously you want to waste time keeping the clock running, but at the very least the 2nd down and 3rd down playcalls were just stupid. Why not try a differnet concept other than just run down the middle? Play action, a sweep, anything? The 3rd down run to "line it up" for the kicker. To be honest… I don’t knock Miami not trying to score a touchdown. You have a freshman QB in really his first real start.
