100% Notre Dame. They start spending, look out. They may have more money than SMU.

Probably a summer enrollee so he can graduate from Virginia.

Not being critical, but why?

The value of the degree? Both are good schools.

He portaled in December. I'd think he could accomplish the same thing by enrolling in January and then announcing he would leave for the Portal in April and skipping spring practice.

Just a few thoughts. The timeiline is interesting.

No idea. There was another school this was being discussed in relation to a portal entry that is finishing classes and hasn't enrolled yet and they were panicking. Can't remember who it was though.

Only logic I can think of is transferring credits to ND and he wouldn't have graduated in May there vs he would have at UVA but that could be wrong. Definitely just me guessing.

UVA graduation is this weekend, for the record.

I was thinking the same thing as a possibility. Could be credit transfer issues. We've seen this work against UM in the past, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn ND admissions can similarly be a pain in the *** when it comes to accepting credits from transfers.

Miami is sort of flexible, especially now under Mario.

ND will never make exceptions for athletes.

Would be quite funny if their #1 WR just enrolled at Miami in Summer when we play them week 1. And he is the type of WR we need. Though if we got him I don’t think we would need Tony Johnson. And then I’d be putting Trader in Slot a lot 100%

You may be right.

Usually, when a kid is a freshman/sophomore, there are issues with "academic progress", and the fact one school's "pre-requisite" courses are not the same at another school.

But when guys are really really close to graduation, they can usually take some "final" courses at the new school and then earn the diploma at the old school. This is very common in law school, you will often see a 3rd year student "transfer" to a school where he/she wants to live/practice, but the final coursework qualifies as the completion of the J.D. degree at the first school. If you "transfer" after your first year in law school, you get your degree from your new school, but if you transfer after your second year in law school, you generally get your degree from your original school.

Who knows, maybe things have changed over the past 30 years.
