USA Today Coaches Salary Rankings Show How Far Behind UM Actually Is

College Football has literally passed UM by in so many areas. If the school doesn't want Butch, we may have to go the NFL route and get Chuck Pagano.

Miami was paying richt a top 15-20 salary (4.25 mil plus) when he was the coach. They obviously aren’t going to pay a first time head coach that much nor should they

im not sold on him yet but i do want their AD.
Agreed. Without Milton they are a different team. He is still a quality coach tho. Agree about their AD. Hes made two solid hires in a row. Same can be said about Temples AD. But i'm done with Temple

What about Pagano makes you think he'd come here and what makes you think he'd be a good coach here? Not bashing just curious

if MD is actually making the reported $3 mil a year he is tied for 49th with the Georgia Tech Coach who we played to a tie in regulation. We went cheap and are getting those mediocre results as should be expected

Great defensive coach.

A Butch disciple.

Knows how to recognize talent. He was on Butch's staff that build the 2001 National Championship team. So, he is a good talent evaluator.

He was a Graduate Assistant at UM in 1987 when they won the National Championhsip with JJ.

Went 11-5 three years in a row as head coach of Indy, before he contracted cancer (and eventually beat it).

Knows what is involved about coaching at UM and knows the demands of the fan base.

Knows how to develop and "coach up" talent.

Alright cool. Works for me. You got his phone number lol

Pay manny 250 grand per win....he wins 4 he makes a mil...he wins 8 - 2 mil....12 - 3 million with additional 250 for winning the coastal ,500 for the ACCCG and a million - 2 million for a national Champ.

max earnings available per year 4.75 5.75 if he wins the NC....comparable to the top coaches earnings. Then you give him a certain amount for a top -10-15 recruiting class with no extra for anything above 15.

10-15% increase each year.Contract all incentive laden year to year with no buyout. He FcKs up hes gone.Pay the next guy the same way.

a coach is confident in his recruiting/coaching ability then he shouldn’t have a problem with this.

Exactly my point. Enough with these first time coaches!!! And...up and coming coaches from smaller programs!

So no first time coaches, no up-and-comers.

And we're not going to poach a successful coach who's already making +/- 4 mil from another school.

So....who do you suggest that's not a first-timer, not an up-and-comer, isn't named Leach or Butch, is an established winner, and is not already making in the 4-mil range at another program?

Since this is definitely a rebuild, if the BOT do not want to hire proven Turnaround Specialists in Butch, Leach, Gundy, or Bob Stoops, then they may have to go the NFL Route. The same way they did with Schnellenberger in 1978. Chuck Pagano would be my first choice. This job is too risky for an unproven college coach, due to the impatience of the fans, which is justified. Fans would be more patient for 3 years, if the coach were a proven commodity.

Don’t forget no coach who has ever been fired either

LOL at your turnaround specialists hahaha. Only dude worth a lick in there is Gundy and he didn’t do a rebuild. Leach sucks, Butch sucks, and stoops man I’m just not sure but he much better than leach or butch

Butch Bootygoon Brigade is in over drive these days

Chuck Pagano

Great defensive coach. Top three defense in the NFL while the DC for the Ravens. Doing great with the Bears now. Believe his defense in the top 5..

A Butch disciple and Jimmy Johnson disciple.

Knows how to recognize talent. He was on Butch's staff that built the 2001 National Championship team. So, he is a good talent evaluator.

He was a Graduate Assistant at UM in 1986 with JJ, when Miami perhaps had their greatest team ever that lost to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Went 11-5 three years in a row as head coach of Indy, before he contracted cancer (and eventually beat it).
