unsung heroes

Since donaldsons return we've looked different.

Plus we've added some wrinkles in the running scheme.

Genius play calling:

Richt threw an amazing wrinkle in this game. Tyler gauthier is a small homie, but he was out pulling if any saw. Trevor Darling and Navaun D were SEALING the entire line off while the other gaurd and TG were pulling. You have to think -- at that point -- if you're a D tackle, you're not shooting up-field at that point the rest of the game if it means giving up the outside. So this bought Malik more time against the pass rush as well.

And Feagles has really started to settle in.

He hits a lot of them inside the 20 and a lot of those inside the 10.

We've got a nice looking punter for the next few years.

Hopefully Baxa will produce for us next year as our new kicker.

Picked a good game to have his best game.

Always knew McDermott had it in him and was a better tackle than guard. He's playing himself into a pro contract.

Darling needs to shift 20 pounds of fat to muscle and he'll be phenomenal. He gets gassed too easily and has a tendency to false start to get a step on the DT, which I don't think is due to slow feet as much as compensating for that bad weight. IMO, he's naturally quite good, just inconsistent with suboptimal S&C.

St Louis better not consider going early. He's an emerging star, could get a high draft selection (just not this year, please). I've seen St Louis get beat only a handful of times all year, and even then he gets his body in front of the defender to make the guy run around him, taking him too far out of the play. Plus talent and superior technique.

Donaldson is a Freshman AA. Outside of Va Tech, where he struggled with their speed and stunts, he's looked good all year, and was especially stout vs. ND. I know he plays well at guard, but that boy has exceptional feet for a big ugly. Unless Herbert or Brown can take over for McDermott next year, I expect him to be a bookend with St Louis in 2018.

I like Gauthier and am impressed with Mahoney playing above his pay grade. But I hope Herbert, Gaynor, Scaife, Hillery et al. push those guys for snaps. Will make everyone better. And WTF is going on with Brown? He needs to camp out in the weight room, because he has all the potential in the world, just not strong enough, I guess.
