Welcome back to Underclassman Spotlight, where we highlight underclassmen who have not yet received the attention they deserve, but have the potential to become big-time players. Today we will take a look at 2022 athlete Tyler Jones. Jones recently transferred from Everglades High School to Chaminade-Madonna following his sophomore season.

Jones did it all for Everglades last year. He took snaps at QB, wide receiver, corner, and safety. Jones is currently 6’1’’ 180 pounds and will most likely wind up playing safety at the college level. Lions head coach Dameon Jones is high on Tyler Jones’ potential as a major contributor to the three-time defending champs, and turning on the tape, it’s easy to see why.

Jones is a very complete safety prospect at this stage of his development, especially when you consider he is only a rising junior. He showed off his full set of skills his sophomore season, diagnosing plays and shutting them down before they happened, winning in man-to-man coverage, and covering a ton of ground on the back end playing single high safety. As for his tackling, Jones has a knack for taking the correct angle to the ball carrier and consistently brings them down when he arrives. Jones is not only a willing tackler, he is also a punisher and will make you feel it when he makes contact.

Jones is such an unknown commodity that I was not able to find a social media account for him. That will likely change now that he is at a more popular football program in Chaminade. I expect once the film of him playing in red and white begins to make the rounds, he will explode with offers.
