UM v ND

I don't know if I'm ready to give him some grace, but here's three "potential" reasons they called it the way they did.

1. They trust their OL and can lean on it.

2. They were playing what many would say is the best secondary in the country. They're at least in the conversation, but I feel OSU and LSU are right there with them.

3. WR'e, we're still not where we want to be and they don't trust them yet.

Trying to see it from his eyes.
Valid, but hopefully Mario (& Dawson) learn a lesson about how costly going conservative on the entire post-INT drive and the last two plays of the final drive potentially was.

I'm just glad we got a W against a very good team, and am very excited about what we can do the rest of the year if we continue to get better.

Post I didn’t have to make tonight:

“See, I told you guys that kicking would costs us 2 games this year.

make that 4 games!!”

Bain is a man

Mario again almost lost us a game by coaching hesitantly

Why run there on 3rd and 2? ND has 1 time out, they were going to call it but a short pass and a first down means ND does not get the ball again and you kick the fg with basically no time remaining

Not sure what this team is, its not great and can still lose 4 games and might have trouble scoring a lot of points but ill take the W
ND has one of the best defenses in the country. I don’t know why people just dismiss that. Miami won’t have trouble scoring long as they don’t turn it over

I think Dawson REALLY respected ND's secondary and knew that they were gunning for a Big Time Pick Six in the second half. I think that's why he got "conservative".

Most of the Old Timers around here understand how close the Irish came to giving Mario and his staff a black eye and going back home to South Bend with a victory.

UF and FSU are going to study the ND film. We have to be super aggressive on the ground and force people to defend the run, so that Beck isn't forced into Third and Forever like he was tonight. We allowed ND to adjust instead of setting the tone in the Fourth and it almost cost us the game.

They can study ND all they want. But they don’t have the secondary that the Irish has. And ND was suppose to have one of the best o lines in the country and Miami D line won that battle

Our OL and Dline were superior
Mesidor and Bain need to stay healthy. Last year sucked because they weren’t right. Great to see Scott show flashes of what he is gonna become. Blay and Moton were good! Thank
God we got Tourre because he makes plays. Our secondary outside the stupid bust and them falling asleep on what should have been a field goal attempt was really good! Much better.

Offense was solid. We need guys to emerge besides just daniels and Toney on the outside. I think the weather defense and it being week 1 is why it seemed challenging. Run the ball!!!!!
