Miami Athletics Earns High Marks on Latest NCAA APR Report

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami athletic department earned an Academic Progress Rate score of 987 in the NCAA’s latest APR report, an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The NCAA released APR data for all Division I institutions Tuesday after a one-year hiatus.

Nine UM programs achieved APR perfect scores of 1,000 for the 2020-21 academic year – men’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis and volleyball. In addition, Miami’s football program posted a 997, its best single-year score in history.

Four programs – men’s cross country, men’s diving, women’s cross country and golf – achieved perfect multi-year scores of 1,000, placing them in the 90-100th percentile nationally. The multi-year scores are based the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

“I am extremely proud of our student-athletes and the exceptional work they do in the classroom,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “I also want to thank our coaches and academic services staff for their continued dedication to our academic mission.”

The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.

Academics never gets talked about enough. Academic achievement should ALWAYS be recognized and highlighted. We’ve come a long way from the days of student athletes allegedly not being able to graduate in 4 years to academic accomplishments referenced in this article.

Wow shout-out to Manny Diaz for establishing the #culture that makes it possible
We clearly didn’t practice under Manny… so I can understand how we had such a great multi year score 😂. For real though, great on the kids for busting their *** in class though.

But… I’ll take more wins with a lesser APR

I always wonder which schools have the worst APR. Wish they would put those stats out lol

They do.

FAMU has the lowest football score. They are actually in serious trouble.

LSU has the lowest football score among Power-5 team (by a lot).

And yes Miami beat both UF and FSU (by a lot).

I just heard a few weeks ago about some FAMU players getting kicked off the team for running a train on a janitor in a supply closet. Them boys living reckless on the Hill.
