- Why not a national search for Head Coach - Said Manny was best fit for here. He also said that in College FB, you don't do a traditional hiring process of bringing candidates in and interviewing them. You have to find the guy and get him.

- Said that Manny was HC of defense and Richt was HC of offense so it was an easy to see him running the whole team. Manny handled all responsibilities for defense even to the minor details.
- $4 million to Temple - Said this is what the business is, we would have paid that or a similar amount to another school. Basically it sucks but you have to do it.
- Paying Assistant Coaches – We will have the money to pay them, we want Miami to be a destination. He has heard in the past the questions about that but that is not the case anymore.

- Not concerned about how we win as long as we win. Doesn’t care if its by 70 or 1 point

- Recruiting – It’s the lifeline of the program, said putting money in facilities, private planes, better travel, on-campus visits are important. Many of the great players have come from outside Dade and we need to go out and get them from other parts of Florida or out of state. It’s the power of the brand that helps us,

- Mario Cristobal – Didn’t comment on why he wasn’t chosen but wished him nothing but the best. Loves all Alumni and wishes them well

- Standard for Miami Football – Wants to win every game but needs to be realistic about where we are. Not happy with our performance after some games last year but has faith in Manny to turn this around. The standard is to win National Championships and it doesn’t go away.

- Manny building the right way – Strength program, nutrition side, the culture side of it. Wasn’t thrilled with the CMU game but feels Manny will turn it around and likes that the players give a 100%. Talked about how Shaq Q and Demetrius Jackson love Manny.

- Why fans think they don’t care about winning at the highest level – Pres.Frank, Board have both been great. Talked about new housing about to be open and how they will host the NFC team for the Super Bowl and were complemented on their facilities. He did say it hasn’t always been there but it is there now. We are operating on a higher level than we had before. We need to be on a higher level and continue to invest.

- ACC money and needing the Football money to run the entire athletic department – Budget is 85-90% is towards Football. Adidas, ACC network will help us. We compete against other ACC and SEC schools so we have the urgency to spend in Football because we need to keep up with them.

- Urban Meyer – It is not happening here. We love Manny and want to support him.

- “TNM” branding – It is recruiting strategy to signify a changeover in the program. Not a mistake.

- Bringing in an Asst AD to help with Football i.e. Highsmith – Speaks with Highsmith has nothing but respect for him and loves talking to other Alumni about the program.

- NCAA allowing endorsements, etc. – We need a system in place for players to make money off their likeness. Has some concerns about it but it’s too early to really say. Wants to protect the kids and if they get representation wants to be sure they are legit.

Can someone summarize what Blake James had to say?

Literally everything you’d think he’d say, “he supports manny , he made the right decision , manny is his guy , manny is the right guy for Miami and did I say I support manny “?

That was the interview.

In furburgers defense he cane at him with some good questions,no Softballs. I mean he didn't answer any of them but he at least tried.

One thing that was interesting is that Blake James somewhat went out on a limb with the Nanny hire, and not conducting a search

The heat and repercussions he is definitely feeling today, internally and externally, by not trying to find the best candidate

Storm surge podcast was only good because the FSU guy.... He was entertaining.

Kev is very hard to listen to, often struggles mightily to find something to say and usually doesn't come up with anything. Ricky is better on twitter. and Gaby needs to stick to recruiting/ reporting and not try to talk X's and O's

haha he is full of crap on Mario.

Manny was the head coach of the defense under Richt is a great line by him and I'm glad he said it.

Makes it funny when Mandy talks about a complete rebuild needed and how his roster isn't real Canes, when he's responsible for recruiting and developing everyone you see on defense.

He is the king of spin, double talk, coach speak.... whatever you call it, I don’t trust a single word he says, because his track record proves that whatever is said will be flipped to an opposing view in the future

Paraphrasing what a former Canes player said on another podcast- the reason you interview coaches is to ask the question: "what's wrong with the team and how would you fix it." The AD will at least get different perspectives and maybe realize that a different coach than he had in mind is a better fit.

What a load of horse shot **** that in cfb you don't have time to interview candidates. Diaz wasn't going anywhere. James could have circled back a week later and everything would be the same except that he actually did some due diligence. That level of incompetence should be a fireable offense.

So, after listening to the Blake James interview I have to give him credit for having the guts to even do this in the first place.
Although, I strongly believe he is wrong in several of the things he said I will say that at least he knows the magnitude of his decisions.
Like it or not Blake James is going to stand by his decision and ride it out at least 3 years till he is either FIRED or MADE.

It is what it is, I disagree with Blake but at the end of the day that's who's at the helm.

None of the summaries above provide good recapitulation of the podcast so I suggest you listen for yourself. There were a lot of answers for those with real questions about the program, not just preconceived notions and frivolous conclusions.

Kelvin Harris gave some interesting and valuable insight on the players, the staff and recruiting. But in case you missed the subtext, Blake is running the show and he’s not going anywhere. If he’s wrong, he’ll sacrifice Manny... in 4-5 years. Buckle Up.

We say this every time and every time its proven wrong. Manny doesn't have 4 years to fix this thing. He doesn't even have 3 years if we miss a bowl game this year. The pressure is too much and always has been and always will be. Blake is out here doing mid-season pressers and doing the media rounds to calm the wolves 8 games into Manny's tenure and you are telling me he is going to give Manny 4-5 years? Come on man.

I will walk back my statement that if we miss a bowl game he will be fired. He will be forced to make staff changes though. But if there isnt vast improvements next year I don't see how they will keep him on past that. UM has the most rabid, delusional, ambitious, tough, and crazy fanbase/alumni/player alumni base in America, I think. We haven't won a title in 18 years but we don't care. We have expectations of the program and they need to be met or we will riot. He knows it, and Manny knows it.

My sentiments exactly.

GTFO with this complete rebuild b.s It's not year 1. It's year 4.
