TVD Vs Maye Vs Mertz

So I’m having a Convo with a Few Gator Fans about each Teams upcoming conference matchups in the up coming weeks and long story short we got to UM/UNC and UF/Kentucky and we got to comparing QBs (Maye Vs TVD Vs Mertz) and the whole table unanimously agreed Maye be far and above TVD. Heck many insisted they’d prefer Mertz over TVD as well.

2023 stats so far:

TVD: 57/75, 822 Yards, 8 TDs & 1 INT (3-0)
Vs Miami Ohio
Vs Texas A&M
Vs Bethune Cookman (2 quarters)

Maye: 74/102, 891 Yards, 4 TDs & 4 INTs (3-0)

Neutral to S.C
Vs App State
Vs Minnesota

Mertz: 64/85, 692 Yards, 3 TDs & 1 INT (2-1)

@Utah
Vs Mcneese St
Vs Tennessee

Personally (and without any Orange and Greeb glasses on) I don’t know how you can pick Maye or Mertz. I get that Gainesville isn’t filled with the brightest but the overall agreement up here is that: Maye is Elite, Mertz is a tier 2 QB, TVD is closer to tier 3/4 based on last year

Really want to go up to Chapel hill and put this to bed already…also want to see Kentucky/UGA/Arkansas/Missouri/LSU stomp on the gators and bring them back to reality.

Personally (and without any Orange and Greeb glasses on) I don’t know how you can pick Maye or Mertz. I get that Gainesville isn’t filled with the brightest but the overall agreement up here is that: Maye is Elite, Mertz is a tier 2 QB, TVD is closer to tier 3/4 based on last year

Really want to go up to Chapel hill and put this to bed already…also want to see Kentucky/UGA/Arkansas/Missouri/LSU stomp on the gators and bring them back to reality.

2. What kind of a **** boy post is this? TVD is light years ahead of Mertz as a passer and overall QB, and he’s not the athlete that Maye is, but in my opinion is also a better passer.

The stats this season do not lie, just like they didn’t lie in 2021. When TVD has an aggressive play caller with a wide open scheme, and a good OL, he’s a bad man.

Downside of growing up in northern FL lol Will admit it felt absolutely great watching them Implode against Utah as all my buddies up here were in disbelief

We still barely know what TVD can do, he’s been asked to really unload as a passer in 1 game so far. Miami Ohio/Bethune there was no real need.

Gators have their heads huge after beating Tennessee (it was obvious Tennessee was going to lose once you saw how they did against Austin Peay) but IMO Kentucky/UGA will be absolutely brutal wake up calls as both are far better than Tenn. I still think it’ll be tough for them to get Bowl Eligible

On the other hand outside of FSU there’s no one that we shouldn’t have the advantage to beat…and even then watching FSU the other day showed they’re not unstoppable. Clemson this week will tell a lot about both Programs.

Of course we already know what TVD can do. He showed us in 2021 by throwing for an ACC record 300+ yards and 3+ TD’s in 6 straight games.

This season he has a very high completion percentage (most of his incompletions have been dropped passes), and double the TD throws that Maye has, and I’m not even gonna compare him to Mertz, who isn’t even in the same stratosphere as these two dudes.

TVD murked aTm, and was lights out against Bethune-Cookman in only 1 half of play. He wasn’t asked to do much against Miami of Ohio, but still completed a high percentage of his passes for 1 TD and 243 yards.

This shouldn’t even be a discussion. If he gets time to throw, he will continue to light up opposing defenses.

The convo was really meant to be about TVD Vs Maye as they were saying that will be the reason we won’t win (we don’t have the QB to win big games)

Then of course somehow Mertz is brought into the occasion because “He JuSt BeAt A tOp 15 TeAm”

Nothing about Maye has really told me he’s better than TVD outside of the fact he is more athletic. Biggest component is we have an O-Lins that has given TVD ALL DAY to throw. I don’t see that changing at UNC, but I can see our DL being disruptive to Maye…(assuming Mesidor/Kelly/Deen are back)

Is this as an NFL prospect or college QB? Maye I would say has the most ability just because of the running element he adds. TVD has a solid chance to move up the draft boards with continued excellence. I think losing Longo can be attributed to some of the struggles with Maye similarly to TVD last year. Mertz shouldn't have to be addressed in any football conversation.
 
The entire conversation is worthless once Mertz is brought in. He’s nowhere near the other two. Even if you include last year’s subpar half season for TVD, it was still better than anything Graham Mertz has done.

Side note: Maye might be playing himself out of the first round. His last seven starts he has 8 TD passes and 8 interceptions. He was incredible for the first 2/3 of 2022 and has been pretty average since.

He’s not been asked to do much running g but has shown he’s pretty good when he does.

I think TVD’s athleticism is underrated. He was a **** good baseball player in HS and played BB as well. He’s not been asked to run a lot (which I think is a good thing) and when he has, he’s shown he’s more than capable.

Maye is gonna get killed running with the ball. I saw him get his bell rung his last game. He’s not that big weight wise. 215? He’s thrown 4 picks to TVD’s 1 and thrown 27 more passes with only 69 more yards. Maye’s a **** good QB but there’s not that much separation between he and TVD.

Mertz shouldn’t even be in the convo.
 
Best season so far = TVD

Who I believe should be the #1 draft pick = Maye

You always make make the case, TVD has the better overall weapons and talent overall.

We will see. Jury is out on UNC QB’s once they reach the league. Howell might break that mold. But to say Maye is far and above TVD is nonsense. I guess if they are casual fans and they only look at DVD stats last year, they can come to that conclusion. But anyone that knows the DVD situation in detail knows that last year should be tossed out of the books.

1st mistake is hanging out with multiple Gator fans. Honestly... VOLUNTARILY being around more than 1 at a time, is an offense that should be punishable, by having to punch yourself in the dicc!
2nd mistake.... was having a conversation about anything related to Cane/Gator football, with multiple Gator fans.
3rd mistake... was thinking that any Gator fans could be rational, objective, and fair, when discussing anything related to Canes football.
4th mistake....having said conversation with multiple Gators, while not having enough alcohol around to drink yourself into a stupor.....
5th mistake..... having access to alcoholic drinks, while having this discussion, and leaving without kiccing somebody's ***.
6th mistake.... calling more than 1 of these people "friend".
