True or False? Coaching Edition

Is this what you really think?

Other than Bama, Clemson and Ohio State who makes the playoffs regularly?

Clemson just had the #1 overall QB recruit in the nation from two years ago and a solid incumbent starter who was undefeated this year transfer because ANOTHER #1 overall QB recruit was even better and beat them both out. Bama has had at least three or four 4-5 star QBs transfer out.

They have a roster full of top offensive line recruits backed up by other top offensive line recruts and loaded coaching staffs.

If you think a change of play callers makes us a perrennial playoff team...well ok.

Let's go even deeper.

How many MORE seasons would Golden have been given if Diaz was his DC?

Good points BUT in fairness, this team should have an easy path to the playoffs, in terms of quality of competition at least. We shouldn’t have a problem getting to the acc champ game. The coastal is not exactly a murderers row.

Our only big obstacle is Clemson. And another good class or two and we should be able to compete well enough to win our share of games.

With the current O staff, none of the above seems possible.

I hope to God that CMR understands he screwed up and has made some playcalling adjustments. I remember he switched up the playcalling with Kaaya and the passing offense improved greatly.

IIRC he benched Linder and switched McDermott and Darling HALFWAY THROUGH THE SEASON (sound familiar?)

Kaaya was very good given time to set his feet (due in part to him having a college QB coach for two years rather than an inexperienced half-wit)

You are correct sir. We do have a relatively easy path to the ACCCG, it’s pretty much going through Blacksburg every year. But that final hurdle is a doozy that won’t be solved my hiring a guy like Coley imo.

Fisch, yes. Coley, no. Coley lost anything I had for him with his bonehead HB pass call in the bowl game in the snow against Wazzu.

Here's the real nightmare part though...if we can't get the offense right somehow this year to help the D, it's almost a certainty that Manny will bolt to another job (possibly a HC gig), and Richt will use that as an excuse ("we need to focus on finding a new DC") to continue to ignore the need for an actual OC to be hired and take over the playcalling. So - we'll see more of the same on offense and have to break in a new DC...not to mention all of the departures likely coming on the defensive side of the football.

You forgot to tell us who's the HC will be! Richt ain't going to allow free reigns with his offense.

Honestly, I'd rather see HB passes in the snow than see Richt's 1st-10/2nd-9 runs up the middle every time.
Coley was in the reverse Richt --

His strong suit was game planning. He usually had a decent scheme for the first half to exploit the other teams deficiencies. Unfortunately, he was no bueno at making adjustments, which is probably Richt's best attribute as an OC.

The thing is, with our talent level right now, I feel like with decent game planning and scheming, we could and should be putting teams to bed by the end of the first quarter.
