Here's the same look, but at the defensive positions.

We need to load up this coming cycle. Time to start stacking at every position. They should bring an all time class to build upon last class....if that happens u will really see us pull away from the UNCs of the world.

LB recruiting has been bad for awhile but that is lowest rate on team for any position grouping it seems.. We really need to hit the position hard and not be arrogant to think we can recruit the position soo easily. Get talented players, hope we get some fresh eyes on the position. We seem clueless here

They will try to negative recruit us right after week 1 when Bama hits us hard, it shouldnt stop us from having a real good season. IMO thats all we neeed is a real good season and a good showing in our bowl game or a win depending on who it is. The guys we got on staph can sell sell sell now. We should be ok but I dont think fans will be patient. Im being pretty patient because what we have done in the off season with coaches, I know that TRob cant fix the DB room until he gets his guys. Cant make chicken salad with ****.

Maybe so but TRob is a much better coach than Rumph in terms of developing players. TRob isn't just a recruiter. There's more to him than that so I would expect to see a better coached secondary from a fundamental standpoint for sure.

Yeah I don't think are talent in the secondary is bad. I think the coverages were too soft and we didn't play to their strengths I expect a big improvement

What constitutes a”blue chip” prospect?
Because there are what, 4 different recruiting sites and some have players as 4 and others have that same player as a 3 star. Is it the 247 composite you are looking at? Or just one of the standalone publications?

I used 247 rankings. You are correct though...there are differences. Rivals listed Pope as a 5 star, 247 has him as a 4 star. Conversely 247 listed Chickillo as a 5 star while Rivals had him as 4 star.

Because the teams who win the title typically have >50% blue chips on their roster.

Do you know what a ratio is?

It’s a fraction. Since most people on this board failed the 3rd grade, I’ll give a refresher....fractions have two parts. A numerator, which is the number “upstairs”, and a denominator, which is the number “downstairs.”

Fractions and ratios can go up in exactly two ways - increasing the numerator OR decreasing the denominator

So tell me this, in the blue chip ratio, what value does the “downstairs” number (denominator) add? Does decreasing the denominator make your team better?

In other words, why not just forget the downstairs number, and just compare teams by looking at the COUNT of blue chip players on the roster?

Every roster doesn’t have the same number of players. Every recruiting class doesn’t have the same number of players. So count is less relevant.

I don’t even get what you’re fuming about in this post. That it isn’t actually a ratio or that they aren’t just counting? Either way — the point is you need to bring in >50% blue chips as a baseline to have a national title contender roster. That’s the conversation here, which I thought you were calling dumb. It doesn’t seem like you are.
