I wanted to lay out the top-rated recruit we have at each position, just to see what we could take from it. I used the 247 composite rankings, but for transfers, I just used the transfer ranking. It's not realistic as an on-field lineup, and I did a little finagling on defense, but here's what I came up with:
QB - TVD (Jr) 91.73
RB - Trevonte Citizen (RS-Fr) 95.50
WR - Ray Ray Joseph (Fr) 94.05
WR - Michael Redding III (Jr) 92.70
WR - Jacolby George (Jr) 92.57
TE - Jaleel Skinner (So) 95.62
OT - Francis Mauigoa (Fr) 99.60
OT - Samson Okunlola (Fr) 98.86
IOL - Jalen Rivers (Jr) 94.25
IOL - Javion Cohen (RS-Jr) 93.00
IOL - Laurance Seymour (Jr) 92.48
DT - Leonard Taylor (Jr) 99.38
DT - Rueben Bain (Fr) 97.09
DE - Chantz Williams (Jr) 96.34
DE - Jayden Wayne (Fr) 96.22
LB - Cyrus Moss (So) 97.10
LB - Malik Bryant (Fr) 93.20
LB - Wesley Bissainthe (So) 92.74
S - James Williams (Jr) 99.21
S - Antione Jackson *** (Fr) 91.40
CB - Chris Graves (So) 93.65
CB - Robert Stafford (Fr) 93.63
Some things that stand out:
-This shows why WR recruiting this year was so vital and why it hurts that we struck out almost everywhere.
-Everyone knows O-line recruiting was bad before Mario, but I think most of us expect that to be a recruiting strength for a while.
-The CB position ... I think we all knew.
