Here are my thoughts:

Definite Need
1. QB1
2. OLB1
3. TE1
4. LB rotational

Conditional Need
1. LT if Bell goes pro
2. RB1/2 if Fletcher goes Pro
3. Nickel if Brown won’t move there and one of the young guys isn’t ready to step in
4. 4i DE if Lowe is still gimpy
5. 1-2 more OL depending on Kinsler, Mahoney, SJ etc. development. Too hard to determine given their limited snaps but I trust Mirabalio to figure it out
6. RB3 if Lyle and Charmar transfer out

After that be opportunistic if the right elite player or value player hits the portal and it’s a good fit. I’d take a WR1 in a heartbeat under the right conditions for example. But we’ve recruited well lately so I would caution not to get too greedy or it could backfire.

I’d add kicker and possibly a WR to “definite needs”

I’d also add DT especially if Moten leaves.

Needs regardless of who leaves
QB1
WR1
S rotational or starting depends on development of this room. Poyser, Pruitt, Fitz, Day, and Wallace is the room rn.
Nickel, rotational or starting. Depends on development of this room. I think Pruitt, Fitz, and Ewald r in this room. Dylan Day should move to nickle. I think his traits fit better at that position.
2 starting LBs
DE
K
C

Those should probably be priorities. Icing on the cake would be a RB1, DT, and TE.

I do believe Blount moves inside, 285-290 DT. The RB position is fine if everybody comes back. Lyle and Brown need to improve their vision. Pringle needs to hit the weight room, and Fletcher needs to stop looking to run someone over and prioritize getting the most yards. Also think Lofton should just permanently move to FB and just flex him out if u want to use him in the passing game.

Our top need is QB.
We have to have at least one and preferably 2 OL

Mali is WR1 in targets. I do think we need another proven WR tho. I’m not sold on Moore yet and haven’t seen enough of Upshaw. Jojo has been too inconsistent to rely on even if he returns.

To me those are the must positions to upgrade if we want to make the playoffs.

Then on defense we’re in better shape and it’s a little more unclear to me rn.

I expected Blount/Scott/Moten to be our down lineman with Lightfoot moving around ala Mesidor. And then moving Blount inside and bringing in Lowe or Pickett on our NASCAR set.

However if the rumors are true that we want Blount inside primarily then DE is right there with WR.

LB is pretty close. We definitely have a hole there. I love Wiley and Popo but are they ready for full time starter roles at a high level? Not sure. Would love to add Rojas to the room. An athletic high upside LB. Guys like him and Wiley would really change the room.

S… we have Poyser coming back. We also have a freshman all American ready to start. And at nickel we have a lot of options.

I think on defense it’s really going to be not just targeting positions, but guys who fit like Scott did.

We will be far less active in the portal this year. QB and then very picky at every other spot. This assumes we lock up our two deep.
