Brevin Jordan is a different breed ... He is however a true freshman (as you are showing ) .. I can see a 4 TD with maybe 300 yd Max out of him and that is fine he doesn’t need to do too much more .... He will still be better than what UM has to offer at the position as of right now ... What your stats don’t show is what he will take away ... Dfences WILL account for him which will open up much more with how much talent Miami has on offense .... He can also block and be moved around among the offense to create mismatches .... My opinion he will be a factor as soon as he steps foot on campus ...... I love all the guys coming in but in my opinion I think he is overall the best football player out of all of them

A 7-TD season for Jordan isn't out of the question., especially considering the fact we've historically sputtered inside the red zone. He provides an element we've not seen in a minute.

Explain.

He isn't "jumping out the gym" and doesn't really strike me as a red-zone target. More of a tear the **** out of the middle of the field piece. Mallory on the other hand does. I think a combined 7 TDs, if Mallory is ready come Fall or our current TEs suck, would be reasonable.

I see this guy as very Winslow-esque, whereas Winslow was was 6'4" 240lbs; Jordan, 6'3" 250.
I fully agree he could tear it up between the 20's.
But he opens up a dynamic we've not consistently seen since Winslow., and even Shockey for that matter.
The Malik factor is also a concern. A TE in the RZ is only as good as the QB who delivers the ball.

Remember, Njoku and Winslow both recorded 8TD seasons in their 2nd year at the U.
I'm pretty sure Shockey hauled in 7 in his soph season; 3 in his first.

Maybe it will take Jordan a year to get it internally, but I do think he'll be an immediate impact opposing D's will need to account for.
7TD's as a freshman getting major burn is not unrealistic, that's all I'm saying.
It will all unfold on the field, however.
And this is just my $0.02, which we all know is $0.98 short of a dolla. ;-)

The truth sucks, I did the same and went way, way back and the best stats I could come up with are 500yds and 5TD's, needless to say we can't expect to much production from the young guys this year.

I would think 350-400yds and three TD's would be great based on past history.

I foresee Jordan AND Mallory gettiing better numbers than the one's posted above

We have always made the TE a point of emphasis in our offense while schools like FSU are a receiving grave yard for them.

I've compared Jordan to Evan Engram previously.

Engram as a Fr had 21-268 12.8ypc and 3 TDs in 8 games. Jordan is bigger and a much higher rated recruit.

My conservative projection for Jordan is 28-350 4 TDs.

You have to mean in terms of production right? Engram was basically a glorified slot receiver at Ole Miss with how slim he was and still is. He grew into a TE/WR. Brevin is strictly a TE.

Continuing on my thoughts from the other thread:

Jordan’s level of success as a freshman wont be dictated by his receiving numbers. It will be determined by his ability to pick up the offense and block inline.

We have plenty of options at WR to pass the ball to, and capable receivers out of the backfield to check down to. Rosier doesn’t work the middle of the field well, and that’s where a guy like Jordan will eventually excel. He is a matchup nightmare.

Can Jordan learn the playbook and the zone blocking schemes quickly enough to get on the field? Will he be physical enough to effectively block D1 opponents? Those are the type of questions that need to be answered in fall camp.

Actually yea well put

Good thing for our te’s we have TALENT big time at the other positions and we are deep!! I don’t know about the players outside of the Georgia and FSU guys who were early enrollees. We know the FSU guys going to do what they do up there!

Jordan is on another level than those tight ends period. Check the film and it isn’t close

Meaningless without targets, snaps/playing time, etc.

How many of them joined a team with an abysmal depth chart at their position?

People have no idea how difficult it is to make the transition from living at home in high school to living with a stranger in a dorm in college, in a new town, adding to that, going from a simplistic high school offense to a complex college offense, learning new terminology, in-line blocking schemes, going to harder classes than you’ve ever been to, adjusting to a new schedule, much more pressure on you, learning a bunch of new plays, adjusting to a completely different environment, all in a compressed time frame of 6 weeks, in a 17 year old brain and body. Rare are the freshmen that can come in and make the quick adjustment. Only a very few do and can be productive from the start. The freshmen trio of linebackers led by Shaq, Kaaya is another.

I wouldn’t be expecting big production numbers from either, especially at the start and especially at anything that requires complex learning initially.

There are always exceptions to the norm. The difference is that most of those TE's went into situations where there were some upper classmen with experience ahead of them. Jordan is extremely talented and will have an opportunity that most Frosh TE's don't get.
