Top-100 2028 cornerback Amiir Woodward recently spoke with CanesInSight regarding his recruitment, the teams pursuing him, upcoming visits, and how he thinks he fits in the scheme of things at Miami.
Woodward, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound cornerback out of Jersey City, New Jersey, plays his high school football for St. Peter's Prep. He has a twin brother, Adrian Woodward, and both are being pursued by the Miami Hurricanes. They were recently in attendance for the UA Next S7VNS showcase in Bradenton, Florida, displaying their defensive abilities.
There are currently six schools pursuing him the hardest in his recruitment: "The Schools that are recruiting me the hardest currently are Texas A&M, Miami, Oregon, Florida State, BYU, Notre Dame, and more."
All three of the major recruiting websites (247Sports, Rivals, ESPN) have him currently considered as a four-star prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he ranks as the No. 81 overall prospect, No. 7 cornerback, and No. 4 out of New Jersey. His brother ranks as the No. 8 cornerback in the 2028 recruiting class.
"Miami is very strong in my recruitment right now, I love how they do things over there," he added. "I feel I would fit Miami’s system very well because of how aggressive they are especially man to man wise."
Woodward expressed that he feels like he can fit into Miami Hurricanes defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman's defense because of how the defense is coached and played: "The things that stand out to me most is the way they play their defense and how intense their program is," stated Woodward.
Before transferring to St. Peters Prep, Woodward and his twin brother attended Bergen Catholic High School. They led them to an overall record of 8-3 and 1-2 in league play. Woodward racked up a total of 12 tackles and one tackle for loss.
He currently holds a total of 37 power-five offers: Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, BYU, Georgia Tech, Duke, California, Boston College, Michigan, and Nebraska, among others.
He told CanesInSight that he doesn't have a timeline for his college decision and doesn't currently have any visits planned: "As of right now I don’t have a timeline on when I wanna make a decision," he added. "I’m planning on narrowing my schools down after the season."
