Top 10 CFB coaches

1. Meyer
2. Saban
3. Fisher
4. Harbaugh
5. Malzahn
6. Stoops
7. Shaw
8. Herman
9. Richt
10. Sweeny

Patterson does not make list. He needs to prove it at a real program.

TCU is now a real program, thanks to him. They WERE in the WAC when he started, now they're a Big 12 team and have had 5 top 10 finishes in the past 8 seasons. Incredible resume.

The biggest joke is that you omit him, but include Herman who has had ONE season as a head coach at a mid-major. Houston is a real school but TCU isn't? NEGGED.

Agreed. It's not even proven that Herman can be great in the long run at Houston. Let alone succeed at a BCS school.

I can't see how you have Herman on your list, with Patterson off for this reasoning. One of them coaches in the P-5 and went 12-1 (they would've been 13-1 if the Big 12 had a Championship game, possibly in the playoffs over Ohio State) and 11-2, the other coached 1 year at a mid major and went 13-1.

1) Nick Saban
2) Urban Meyer
3) Jim Harbaugh
4) Gary Patterson
5) Mark D'antoni
6) Bob Stoops
7) David Shaw
8) Les Miles
9) Mark Richt
10) Jimbo Fisher

Completely arbitrary, I'm sure there's an argument to move 3 through 10 all around.

1) Saban
2) Meyer
3) Harbaugh
4) Patterson
5) Swinney ( relatively young and five straight ten plus win seasons)
6) Dantonio
7) Stoops
8) Fisher
9) Shaw ( continued what harbaugh built)
10) Brian Kelly ( underrated). Also turned around Cincinnati and did very well at central Michigan

Just outside: richt, miles, Chris Peterson ( turning them around and Boise state too), Herman at Houston ( early but guy is an animal)

Most of you have the usual suspects on your lists.
Some comments:
Way too early for Herman.
Stoops getting little love.
Where is Harbaugh if you look at college results only?
I wonder where Miles and Richt would be If they coached in another conference where #1 was been for a while and #2 was for 6 years.

You all need to move Stoops up on the list. The man is about as consistent as they come. Gotta take into account the longevity.

Please remind me of Harbaugh's current college record.

Then tell me how far Stanford has fallen since he left.

Then let me know what Brady Hoke's record was his first year at Michigan, and compare it to what Harbaugh did.

Maybe Harbaugh is a top 10 coach, but his current body of work isn't better than any of the coaches I've listed ahead of him in the college game.

And for the record ... It wasn't that long ago the Lane Kiffin, Gus Malzahn, and Chris Petersen were considered top 10 coaches. So, for me ... Longevity and trajectory of your record matters.

1. Meyer
2. Saban

3. Stoops
4. Dabo
5. Jimbo
6. Shaw
7. Dantonio
8. Patterson
9. Gundy
10. Brian Kelly

I think the idea here...in terms of success at the U...is that we have a coach the is considered top 10 or even top 20 compared to he last 15 years where it would be hard to argue that our HC was in the top 50.

I'm gonna get slammed for this but Richt isn't top 10. Top 15 or 20, absolutely but not top ten.
Urban and Saban are legends then it's a tier lower which has a group of names
Harbaugh
Dantonio
Briles
Patterson
Shaw
Jimbo
Dabo
Stoops

I think Herman will be up there but not just yet. Then there is a list of guys just outside and Richt is one of them.
