Toney vs Santana?

I can’t remember an impact of a freshman WR since maybe Ahmonn but even Toney seems further along than him.

Fast forward two years… does Toney surpass our famed, beloved Santana Moss? Both undersized, explosive, phenomenal route runners.

Curios on your thoughts!
They are not the same player. Santana was a lot more explosive. Moss had elite speed.

Santana also played outside while Toney plays slot. Can Toney still be productive on the outside as the number 1?

Yards, I don’t think Toney stays four years so him breaking records may not be possible.

Depends on how he tests and how the NFL views him. His NIL number would not be small in a 4th year.

Wasn’t Santana also quite stocky or at least “thick”?

Super agile, on that play where he turned little Earl around like a top he actually stumbled a bit in his cut, and still pulled away from the pursuit. He's very fluid with little wasted energy/motion. And the kid just has a nose for the endzone. We're incredibly lucky he ended up here.

Baby Jesus is not an all american sprinter. I'd say the Antonio Brown comparison is more accurate.

Baby Jesus to me is a unique player, and we probably should stop trying to compare him. He's already his own legend!
He may not be, but his dad was, and I think those genetics are starting to show off on him. The way he pulled away from the entire FSU secondary on a couple of those touchdowns was very impressive from a straight line speed perspective. I think he’s getting a lot faster now that he’s in college.

i'm still trying to decide if toney has that type of speed or if fsu secondary is just that slaw
I think he’s showing a big increase in speed. We have to remember he’s a year younger and he still developing and now in the college program I think that that genetic speed that he does have in him from his dad, starting to show. I think it’s only gonna get better too.

I see him moving around and start to see him on the outside next season. I think he is that good.

If this will be his worst season, keeping him around for 4 years will be tough. I think you right, that 4th year NIL would be crazy lol

I posted before that Toney is Santana 2.0.

Not sure I can think of a more close comparison of any other current/former Canes and, yes, Santana was an all-time great. Toney will add some muscle, he’s just 18. He’s not going to look like Travis Benjamin in a year or two but more like Moss circa 2000 IMO.

Toney is a better route runner and I think has a better understanding of where to be in space. Moss was pure athleticism and burst.
