Toney Usage (Evolution)

For the first games 5 games he did not attempt a rush or a pass.
For the next three games he did not attempt a pass.
Now we are using him in the receiving, rushing and passing game in every game since SMU.

We have found additional ways to use his immense talent. This is what keeps teams guessing. He can beat you in three ways and run the run pass option.

He has 903 all purpose yards (excluding punt returns). With punt returns it is 1,085 yards.

With 91 yards he will pass AR15 for most as a freshman I believe.

I have not seen this level of talent from an offensive player (as a true freshman) since Duke Johnson. His blocking and football IQ is supreme as well. Not everyone needs to be a 5*.

He should be at the ceremony in New York before his time is done here. He is that good.

I love the creativity for sure
I do want them to monitor workload and the TYPE of touches he gets
In the flat or down the field all good

I do NOT want to see him run up the middle
It’s stupid and he will get hurt
Why do we want a LB or DL tackling and landing on him????

So they need to be smart
He ain’t deebo body type but they are treating him like he is

Deebo always hurt because of it!!!

He has been incredible.

Think Marion showing out (averaging 5 for 92 over the last 4 games), with Daniels out, has given Dawson more leeway to line Toney up in the backfield, since we have another reliable downfield receiving threat. Lofton making some catches has helped too. It's too bad Tony Johnson got limbs amputated or whatever happened

Why did it take them 9 games to unlock this? Is it some kind of video game that they have to achieve certain quests before they’re allowed to do some of these things? I mean did they just figure out the kid throws the ball as well as some of our backups?

Kid shows up as a 17-yr-old & evolution is a natural process. Silly expecting to do in ND game & early games what he’s doing now. Guys like Irvin, Moss & slew of greats weren’t doing crazy **** as freshmen. Takes time to adjust, learn system & earn trust.
