Today's "Elite" HC Market

No smear campaign at all.. Riley seems like a excellent guy.. And no need for stats... He's been good at offense and bad at defense.. Keep it simple. To be great shouldn't we win at least one ring with your players first?? Like I've started previously, plenty of good coaches, amazing guys out there pushing to be great.. making proper adjustments.. But still just pretty good coaches.

If there are so many good coaches, why do we struggle to find one? If there are so many, I'd have thought we'd have lucked into one over the last 15 years.

Because "elite" coaches

  1. are often given (though not always) far more credit and blame than what is deserved
  2. are often a product of the organizational environment

Thats why its so impressive (and essentially impossible to sustain) what the likes of a few "rare air" coaches have done--and even they arent perfect.

Saban (LSU and Bama)
JJ (Miami and Dallas..flame out w/ Dolphins)
Urban (UF amd OSU...although leaving both under big storm clouds)

It goes to show just how hard it is to be "elite" at multiple programs.

Over Diaz RIGHT NOW, the only two names I would feel very comfortable swapping for would be Saban or JJ (returned to prime form).
