He tried to do it in Miami, the issue was that no one could tell Dan Marino anything. Jimmy built a championship D, all he needed was to find a legit tailback and have Dan ride it to a title. Dan didn't want to do that, even though it was obvious that he was never going to be the same after he tore his achilles. JJ ran into the only guy he couldn't get to truly buy in, and we saw how that tenure ended.
 
Well I’m grateful for Jimmy as he built 2 championship teams that have been my
Favorites throughout my
Life. Can’t believe it’s been 35 plus years w Canes and almost 30 years for Cowboys

I have always loved JJ... he received well deserved hugs and love from the Dallas legends and fans... besides the Florida Keys homeboy loves the Canes too.

That my friend is exactly what happened. I have first-hand stories about Marino from people close to the program, besides it's well known anyway.

Blaming Dan? Seriously?

The truth is that Jimmy’s eye for talent was off with the Dolphins compared to what it had been before. Especially when it came to RBs.

And then he stuck us with Wannstache on the way out the door. 🤷‍♂️

That D was built by Jimmy, the two HOFers from said D were brought in by Jimmy. Hard to say his eye for talent was off. The one position he couldn’t nail down was RB, and one could argue that he never got a high enough draft pick to get a top end one.
