Watching last night's #BamaBeatDown, it was apparant that Lawrence has a Manning-esque pocket presence, release timing, and ball velocity. At the level he displayed, I believe an athlete is basically "born with it". These capabilities prevented at least five sacks and enabled five-six completions (by my count). Granted, a few completions were pure low percentage luck plays that went Clemson's way, but Lawrence definitely got the ball out and through tight windows that proved to be a deciding factor in keeping drives alive.

Perry has none of the above and likely never will AS COMPARED TO Lawrence.

My question: How does William's pocket presence, release, and velocity compare?

What are you going to compare? Williams played meaningless minutes in 1 game at this level.

Lawrence is a monster, but his throwing motion is still a bit inconsistent, especially on short throws to the flats. Tends to push the ball. Easy fix though. Best QB prospect I've ever seen.

Williams is a very talented qb, he ended up being the 3rd best qb in the state in Georgia right after Lawrence and fields who are considered 2 of the best QB recruits easily in the last decade or so. Thing I like most is he’s been through it all, didn’t start off playing that well in highschool but showed progression and really improved his game and had excellent junior and senior years. Really improved on the camp circuits as well. I would Say Williams has really good arm strength but not elite and he’s very accurcate. He throws on the run very well and can improvise and move in the pocket. Jarren will really thrive in the spread and he’s a much more capable runner than many think. If applewhite is indeed the hire then Williams is more than capable of running that system at a high level and people must remember in 2016 applewhite had the #15 passing offense in the country averaging 310 yards per game(or something close to that). Williams is what you need in modern football which is a multi faceted qb who can do it all

Williams to me is guy wins job. accuracy matters in a qb. no matter who the oc is Williams wins job. as for arm action **** Lawrence all these kids hae qb coaches from young age or most of them do. especially the white ones.

Fields and Williams have the same qb coach for a number of years Quincy Avery. He was deshaun Watson qb coach too
 
I think what gets lost in all the rush to write off Perry is that ALL of our QBs are going to look better in a different system than the one we were just running w/Richt. At this point - with Applewhite (allegedly) coming in, the system will be better, the coaching of the QBs as a group is going to be better, so they all have a chance to develop on an even playing field. I'm excited about that for all of our QBs.

That being said - I think Jarren certainly has the highest ceiling as a passer out of the group. Perry and Weldon are better runners than Jarren, but their passing talent lags behind.

Only difference between Perry and pretty boi Sunshine is football iq. Perry has done all those things you mentioned Sunshine can do. Just not even close to as consistent as Sunshine. Consistently good is what makes a player great and that's it really.

IDK about pocket presence, but from the little I've seen of Williams, He does seem to have very good reaction time from the time He spots His receiver, to the time He gets the ball up & gone...basically He sees it faster.

Will be interesting to see how He does in an offense that doesn't put too much of the decision making in the hands of the QB.

Respectfully disagree. I dont think Ive seen a singke play where Perry has the same quick release or.velocity on his throws ar Lawrence.

Pocket presence debatable as it is much easier to look good behind Clemson's OL than Miami's OL.
