Three Teams that Looked the Part Week 1

Georgia looked good. Played backups the entire second half. Indiana looked good
 
It’s going to be tough because we will learn nothing from the FAMU game and Central Michigan got blown out last night. so it won’t be much to take away from that.
Crazy to say, but I think our first test will be Wake

I loved Friday night. Canes looked the part, scored at will and were completely dominant. However, we have PLENTY of real work to do. OSU looked about how I figured they would. LSU (sadly) seemed very solid in all phases of the game. We must stay the course and get the OJ injury figured out. Selfishly, I hope we spend time defending against aggressive TE play. We will face a few teams that match up well against us with elaborate tight end schemes…but I digress.

Here’s to an amazing run. Let’s Go Canes!!!

Some of the stats from yesterday are padded. Mensah and Toney and most of the starters were out for the entire 4th Q. didn't see that happen across the board. LSU did replace Leavitt in 4th the 4th Q and the backup scored.

Pitt left the starters in for the entire game. Syracuse left Angeli and the starters in for the first half of the 4th quarter, despite being ahead by 60+ points.

I watched the entire OSU game. O line was sloppy and physically underwhelming for two quarters against one of the worst teams you can play and the defense was getting pushed around in the trenches at times. They are losing to Texas next week.

Yes took them a couple quarters to get going, but the running game came along, and like Mali, they have a cheat code in Jeremiah Smith. Arch is gonna choke yet again.

Blount and Oj help with that but that’s how close we are from 2024. We have to win the acc or we don’t get in.

Miami could score at will. Toney is basically unguardable. Miami could have won 70-6 if it had kept its starters in. And unlike in 2024, this was a steady calm offense- did not require Mensah channeling Ward and running around escaping the pass rush.

Miami looked like it had a defense that will finish in the mid 30s. Bend don’t break. Dont allow a quick score. Force the opposing QB to work. When the opponent gets to the red zone, step up the pressure and force FGs. The defense gave up basically nothing on the ground and Stanford was forced to completely abandon the run. If the refs actually called holding per the rule book, Stanford gets called for 15-20 blatant holds. Not an exaggeration. A good college QB is going to find holes in most college defenses when he is given extra time by the zebras. Don’t underrate the impact of the refs on games and stat lines.

Miami is far better on defense than the old Lincoln Riley Oklahoma teams, and they were good enough to make a 4 team playoff. There are 12 playoff teams now. Miami absolutely looks like one of them.

Didnt think their defense looked as salty as last year either, we will know for sure next week..

I'd probably sub UGA for OSU
 
IMO, the best teams thus far,

1. Miami
2. LSU
3. USC
4. Memphis
5. Houston

I also thought Oklahoma looked phenomenal. I have them as one of the Final 4 teams at the end of the season.

However, it's still really far too early to determine how good or bad teams are based on Week 0/1 games.

Some teams did look like sh*t for game 1 & based on their roster+Coaching, it's not farfetched to assume they're not going to be much better.

Some teams also looked good against FCS opponents, but won't look the same against a common P4 peer.

But two things I'm certain of already,
- Cheatagain at best will win 7 games
- CJ Bailey is one of the worst QB's in the country
 
First game is equivalent to a scrimmage for teams hosting bottom feeders. Like that we looked solid on the road against a so-so conference opponent.

Most impressive teams along with us in openers - Oklahoma, OSU, UGA, LSU, maybe even UVA. Hard judging others running up scores vs weak sisters.
