Needed a wake up call and a recalibration after 4 games of cupcakes.
If usf didn’t ring this team’s wake up alarm. VTECH did.

Outstanding show of resilience and effort.

Expect everyone to play their superbowl against us, cause if you don’t then you’ll end up in the L column.

We did need this, great to learn while winning.

Our corners had not be tested in the run game.

They struggled mightly tonight.

11 on defense had a rough night. Constantly beat to the edge. Not breaking down, under control allowing the QB to escape which lead to him throwing two touchdowns.

Offense the run game and generally speaking Cam didn’t protect the football. Some of that you just have to live with his brilliance as we saw at the end of the game.
 
yeah, i think this will (and SHOULD!) cool the hype train down some. the natty contender talk needs to die yesterday. maybe the team will improve over the year and get some guys back, but as of now that's silly talk. need to see a lot of improvement from the defense in basically every respect, ESPECIALLY tackling, and more care with the ball from ward. but ultimately, we got a conference win with our defense playing about as poorly as they could and our offense blowing two red zone scoring chances *and* handing VT the ball in our red zone on the first drive of the game. i'll take it.
 
I can't think of a single championship caliber team that wasn't tested by a team they were expected to beat. Even 2001 Miami. What I do know is we lose this game 50-17 last year with TVD. Wheels 100% fell off after the garbage holding call with the INT the next play if this happened last year.

This is why predicting wins, especially blowout wins against any P5 team just isn't a good idea. Just because a team plays bad in prior weeks or may not be as talented doesn't mean they won't play their best game at some point. No one knows the outcome of a game. VTech didn't lay down tonight and nearly pulled it off.

My heart would disagree. Lol
 
I worry about our D as much as everyone wants to crown Guidry. I really like the guy but there are so many plays where we line up im calling for the O to exploit. Way off the WRs. In man on motions across the field where we chase. There are so many opportunities to exploit for an offense it boggles my mind they don’t more often. I would run off tack and pass to the flats on us all day long.

We knew the issue with the CBs in the offseason. Surprised more wasn’t done to address it.
 
What a thrill! We were beating ourselves, but once they botched that fake FG I knew the game was over. Holy crap what a game! Like you said we needed wake up call. I'm glad we got the victory.
I know we won't play like that again, if anything this game boosted our team ego even more. Knowing when we play our brand of ball no one can stop us even down two scores in the 4th quarter.
