I am not here to make excuses for the offense or Beck. Watched the game in a truck stop lounge in London Ohio. And i know what was gonna come after the game. We didnt beat UF 45-10 so we are not that good, Beck is not good blah blah.

If you are say 25 and under, you will not remember Saban first teams at Bama, winning titles with John Parker Wilson and Greg McElroy. When nothing else is working, they pounded the rock and played defense, thats where they came up with the term "Murder Ball".

Saban said something leading up to the game, your defense is least affected by the road crowd. Why? Because the fans are quiet for their own offense. Canes had the best offense by far last season and we lost 2 games on the road and the bowl game with no defense. It be great to have that offense with this team but this offense is more complimentary to this defense as well.

The game worked out as best it could for UF to seem like they were in the game. They were never in it. Brockermeyer penalties and miscues made it work out well for UF defense. Prevent and hope you make mistakes thats kills drive and also try to force the ball downfield, which Beck did one time. UF has multiple players in their secondary who we wanted badly in ours. I predicted it was gonna be 27-13. That was my thinking before the game, worked out almost exactly the way i thought it would.

When we go up to Tally and the late road games up north, i want this running game and this defense.

Also if you think Beck is a bad QB or any of that nonsense, go watch man play big games in the SEC. He had a relatively poor game. Yet we won by 19.

This was not a stat pad cupcake start my friends, we are 4-0. We back in the big times. You will have to get used to winning multiple different ways.

How about two 100-yard rushers for stat padding?

I don’t think anyone with three brain cells would agree that what we saw last night was a national championship-level of offense. Added with the ND data point (their defense stinks), our offense is probably a top 30 ish unit. Maybe a little lower.

But this defense? Absolute lights out and arguably the best DL in college football. They’ll keep us in every game, bare minimum.

That combo, provided we can get some more consistent downfield passing + push in the run game, should be enough to make the playoffs. From there, it’s anyone’s game.

My thoughts exactly. Miami last year and LSU with Daniels at QB. It looks and feels great to have those guys at QB with high-powered offenses, but what wins you championships? A running game and defense!

Also, to add, we had this running game last year, but didnt use it being overly confident in our passing game last year cost us a trip to the playoffs.

This style will allow us to be competitive with chance to go very far. Nice to see when our QB did not have his best we still won with some level of comfort. Mario built this like Saban. Beck will have to deliver during the season in certain moments and like ND I have confidence in him. Maybe one of those moments happen at FSU

Total offense rankings don’t mean **** when you’re running for 5 yards a clip and controlling the time of possession like we did last night.

It’s a double edged sword. When Beck is bad, you can’t pull away from anybody. That means you’re a busted coverage or a turnover away from being in a dogfight. But it also means that when the game needs to be put on ice, all you can say is good luck to whoever is lining up against Miami. Bc they’re about to tell you a run is coming and you still have no shot of stopping it.

If you run for 225 a game against good defenses you win the game in CFB. I know it was 184 but they stole a 35-40 yarder from us.

Boi this year gonna be so much fun and exciting to watch. Right now i believe we have a top 3 Dline and probably a top 3 Oline too. I love how physical our trenches were last night, on defense and offense. Big hits and hard runs! This is going to be a special season my brother, i cant wait to celebrate it with you.

NCAA will probably ban than OL push next year or encourage refs to call premature forward momentum stops like last night.
