If there is good news it is bad news. The defense dominates the offense so good by the offense sucks, or the offense scored lots of TD's, what is wrong with the defense. You just cannot win in Fall Ball. I remember when Mike Sullivan wanted to quit because the defense dominated him, coach told him he would not face any team that was close to as good as our defense...fortunately he did not quit and is in the Hurricane Football Hall of Fame So appreciate our defense and take whatever good news from the offense as good to hear. After all, it is FALL BALL. Chill! It will continue to be good news, bad news!

Double points for the Mike Sullivan reference/quote....Great Cane! Great OL!

In what way is this different than any other time of year? That's not even a joke...everything is negative all the time, so what does time of year have to do with anything?

Back during our best '80's teams, the defenses would clobber the offense in every practice scrimmage. A dozen sacks per scrimmage was typical. The same team would go on to win the national championship.

Lesson: (1) We had far more dominating people on the defensive front than on the offensive front. (2) It didn't make any difference, our defensive fronts were so superior to anything else out there and our offense was still good enough to beat everybody else.

If we completed, in the aggregate, 71% of the passes in the most recent scrimmage, we are really doing well on offense.

Hard to take much of anything away.

The 71% completion percentage is alarming though as it suggests we have deadly accurate QB's or our WR's lacked adequate coverage.

Or we threw quickly, and short passes. Which would make sense with this OL, this OC and our personnel.

That’s pretty much what the report said. They mentioned Tate didn’t even try to drive it down the field. There is no problem with that. Look at Tom Brady. He is death by a million cuts. If throwing deep leads to turnovers then don’t do it. Sink and dunk your way to TD’s all day long.

I still go back to that Cotton Bowl. We got nothing on the ground. The first half we couldn't rush to save our lives. Our O line couldn't open a hole to save their lives. But they did give enough protection to let passes get completed. We don't need a great offensive just a good enough line to let a good enough QB get the ball to our outstanding receivers and tight ends.

We have (particularly at DE) one of the better units in the country at DL in my opinion and certainly better than any other in the ACC other than Clemson probably. Let's not flip out yet over the OL having a hard time.

So you’re saying we have to wait to flip out? Even at OT?

Other than Clemson? I’ll take my group over there’s, they don’t even have many proven players on the dline

If we are honest with ourselves, there isn't any defense on this schedule anywhere close to what LSU had last year when we faced them. So to your point, our defense will be the best defense they face all year for real this time.

OAN and maybe I am looking too much into this (I am no defensive scheme guru so pardon me if I am completely off on this) but I haven't heard much from our TEs. (Mallory and Jordan) They are supposed to be our big play guys up the seam. Am I wrong in thinking that Finley is lockin' all that **** down at the Striker spot? Hes been quit too which is a great thing for a secondary player.
