Your right on both accounts, but if Louisville's line was worse, we should have been able to run a lot more against them. The Louisville D-line was quick and did a lot of slants. Our guys couldn't get the angles to make good blocks in the run game. The big plays that popped was when Louisville took themselves out of the play. Our stats look good because of the big runs, but 4/5 runs go for minimal gain.Pass blocking was better for sure this game. Run blocking to the left side not so much. Also Louisville doesn’t have a better D-Line than UAB.
I think Lashlee is trying to give his guys some confidence. Pass blocking is definitely better this year. The run blocking needs to improve. It seems like our O-line just doesn't explode off the ball on run plays. You have to take the fight to your opponent like he stole something from you.
Let's see if the offensive line can improve each week. We need them to.
