Al Golden. The majority of the fanbase wants to fire him. There is no respect left for this man. Most of you would agree with these statements. I'll tell you why this is wrong.
This is a man who came in and has dealt with a program that was on its deathbed post-Shapiro investigation. This is a man who said he will turn this program around. You know what? I think this program's about to show you a whole lot. Unpopular prediction: Miami will win the ACC. There, I said it. Miami will beat Virginia Tech, Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Pitt. They will lose a closely contested game to Clemson. This is REALISTIC. Not the 5-7, 6-6 bull**** I see from the majority of fans who think Golden is terrible. Here's what's guaranteed: The defensive adjustments are non-existent. Yes, that's a guarantee. Here's what's not looked at: The MIAMI FOOTBALL TEAM PLAYS DEFENSE. THE MAJORITY OF THE DEFENSE THE PLAYERS PLAY IS PRETTY **** GOOD DEFENSE. The issue is they are consistently in zone. Why do I think this is gonna change? I think Al's gonna tell D'Onofrio that he needs to stop letting passing teams attack the middle. Believe it or not, other than the few long runs, Miami did a good job stopping Florida State run game. The pass game is the issue. The line is GOOD. This is a solid group of men playing d-line. They play hard, and gritty, and whether or not they get the statistics, they pressure the quarterback. The issue is the middle is ALWAYS OPEN.
Back to Golden... I know most of you will downvote me for this, but I think Golden has done a decent job at Miami. Let's just face it, Miami doesn't really have the pull they had 10 years ago. They aren't landing top prospects. That's in no way, shape, or form Golden's fault. It's the program's past that's consistently running over Miami here. The Shannon days. Golden has been a good coach and I personally believe Miami wins the ACC, beating Florida State in the rematch of the title game. Why do I believe this? Brad Kaaya and the offense hold their own game in and game out. The O-line is subpar, sure, but they get around that all the time. Kaaya had a **** of a game last night. Reconsider where you're coming from and think... Look at Mark Dantonio. He's a **** of a coach, he had a similar first few seasons with Michigan State. Now look at them. Just believe in Golden. There's something there. If it comes down to it, give Golden an ultimatum on his job over D'Onofrio. Bring in another coordinator and if Golden doesn't like it, he goes too. Don't blame Golden for the loss. The players are good, but they aren't top recruits. Wait until the year is over to decide if he should be dumped. If Miami wins the ACC, I guarantee all of you will stop complaining and embrace Al. He loves Miami as much as anyone. After seeing that presser, it only makes sense to give him your support. Support him until there's no reason left to support him. This team has shown signs of brilliance. Let them string some wins together here.
