These next 6 days according to Manny.

Sure it’s coach speak but he spins the truth - these next 6 days and Scrimmage #2 of Fall camp will be the deciding factors on numerous positional battles, namely who’s starting at QB on 8/24 for the Canes. I hope someone steps up there and separates themselves versus elimination by process down to who’s the starter. Same for the OL as well although we’ve heard the same 5 have worked throughout practice together, I wonder if any last minute changes come about due to their play. I’m hoping having to go up against the likes of our DL has helped them work as a cohesive unit. What other position battles are you all looking forward to this week?

I see just 4 -- QB, RT, LT, and CB.

Agreed. Lord if we start Nelson I’m praying that he’s done everything to earn it. Same for Herbert as well. I think having Scaife, Gaynor, and Donaldson inside is going to help our power rushing attack. The secondary is my other area to watch; I’m of the ilk that Ivey and Blades will solidify the other CB spots and that Hall and Carter will be the starting safeties come 3 weeks from now. But won’t be surprised to see Bolden start from @game 3 on with Gurvan.

Derrick Smith is gonna have something to say about that... Either way, we'll have 4 impressive Safeties once Bolden is ready to go, and I don't see a production drop-off at all. Let Knowles handle his business, plus Keontra... Our backend has the potential to be very nasty.

Possibly 5 with Smith coming in hot for the SS position.

Yes, great call by you !! (I am now at 5 -- lol)
At least from what I read on the websites, Smith keeps making plays.

Thought I read awhile ago that somebody related to Smith played in the NFL and was helping him along the way [could be wrong on this though]

Nelson certainly will be the key. IF that kid holds his own game one against a pass rush like the Turds will bring, we are going to be fine. If we have to start shuffling guys around in game because he's not ready, it may become an ongoing problem for us.
If Nelson holds his own against our defensive ends in practice, he'll be ok.

Consider deleting “an” from the title of your thread.

Seems like more coach motivational speak. He previously said something similar about summer workouts in general and QBs in particular - although no boat reference.

I would think that by now the staff has a pretty good idea of what they have. Maybe they’re looking or hoping for that “separation” where the position battles are very close.
The ones win this week and practice together next week. Good plan! Starting QB announced soon....... Go Canes

👍 the Manny quote.

Competition to get on the ‘19 boat and competition for playing time is a good thing.

This is the week he expect some to hit a wall. He knows who is not going to make it and is considered dead weight. I know he said earlier in the summer that he would rather going with 50 guys that put it all on the line then carry dead weight on this team. So lets see who falls off the wagon like Brown!!

pretty much and frankly, all 3 of those bleeps better get their **** together along with the OL. im glad the OL is playing an elite to very good DL, but they'll see another good one week 0. gotta hold up.

I'd like to think they just needed coaching and motivation, something CMR didn't effectively provide. An upgraded playbook with P5 elite execution is what Enos is expected to produce... all bullshiit is about over and we are gonna face the fire here shortly.

I will be very disappointed if our O isn't at least kind of good. There was so much room for improvement that if I don't see much, I'll not be very happy with Enos. We have talent on O, it just needs proper coaching. It should be a night and day difference, much like when Diaz took over the D from Coach Dognuts. (Yes, I know it's actually Doughnuts, but I like doughnuts).
