The "did you attend Miami" thread got me thinking... If pres. Shalala has a flaw this is where non alums that have a beef makes most sense. Opposing fans always tell us the 80's are gone etc. if that's true, why are we always reminded of the 80's when being reminded how not to behave as fans? The schools image is staunchly protected by older alumni and that's fine. However, I do think Shalala has kind of deflated pride in athletics from a student perspective. The school runs a billion PSA's about being PC on game day. Give me a break! You don't see that during a road game! Maybe you can call me too young, I'm 28. Football branded the university! I know we haven't been winning but **** we seemingly abandon pride in the program with the decorum expectations of our fanbase. It's like the admin's goal is for an admiration letter from an opposing AD on how well behaved the fans are. I actually don't expect to be treated well at a road game. If I am, the opposing school has little tradition or expects to get blasted. I've tailgated with the tatted up ******s and ex professors, these academics can't even let their hair down during a tailgate. Honestly, I would hate to be judged on my gameday behavior cause I don't act like a guy with a master's degree on fall Saturday's I'm a nut job and that's ok!

Years of good behavior off the field has done little to nothing to diminish what most of America thinks we are, so I say fugg'em. You can point out our arrest record against anyone and even with evidence in their face, it matters not at all. Toss in Shapiro, again the facts don't matter since all people believe is the first story out, we're back to square one.

As for being at an away game, everyone gets civil behavior from me until I receive otherwise. There's no reason to act like a horse's ***, although some seem to revel in it, but friendly jaw jacking is fine.
 
I remember that one time when I went to sporting event and the PSAs said "be obnoxious, spill beer on other fans, fight freely once intoxicated and be an *******" --- said no one ever

Shalala thinks the best way to endear herself to her colleagues across the country is to make UM's athletic teams as docile and nonthreatening as possible. Nothing scares upper middle class white people like the idea that there are wild negroes out there not under control by a white overseer. They laud her at ****tail parties for the way she "cleaned up UM," and then laugh when she leaves about how they actually convinced the pitbull that is UM football to neuter itself.

Miami is a couple years away from replacing player's jersey numbers with their GPA's, but you're right, I'm way waaaay off in my assessment of the Pygmy running UM.

My tone is born from the negativity and *****ing on this board about everything from the president of the school to the AD to Al Golden's wife for why AJ Highsmith can't tackle and we can't get DLine recruits.

Public service announcements take place every day at sporting events all over the country. They all basically say: behave like a reasonable person. Your account of it is comparable to me saying that the Lakers suck this year because the PSA at Staples Center didn't exist in the Show Time era and that is an indicator of Jim Buss killing his father's team.

I'm sure teams do it for liability reasons. The away games you went to that didn't have such an offensive announcement --- did they serve alcohol at the event?
