Is when we get real depth at QB.

I wont beat to death the Rosier analysis from the Pitt game but it is safe to say that he would be the # 2 QB at a perennial top 10 program. An Alabama, Ohio State, etc. Can we agree on that? A good, solid, # 2 " caretaker" type of QB?

Our precarious QB situation came into full focus when we put in our # 2 at Pitt( a decision I have ZERO problems with)and that player was Shirreffs. No one could argue he is a legit # 2 at a perennial top 10 program, right? Can we agree he is at best a # 3, emergency, "don't burn the redshirt on the true freshman so put this guy in" type of QB at a top 10 program?

Essentially, this year we are 10-1, possibly ACC champs, possibly playoff bound, with a QB roster of a # 2 playing as the #1 and the # 3( or lower) playing as the # 2. As bad as Rosier has played at times this year could anyone imagine where we'd be with him out injured? Inconceivable to quote " The Princess Bride".

So while we have made huge strides everywhere in the program( defense especially) the last hurdle is the most vital- QB.

We will be entirely " back" when we have real stars( not just 3 stars and 2 stars) competing for the QB spot, with the # 2 being a legit potential starter and not a JAG.

The full measure of the Golden massacre of this program is seen in our QB situation. Hopefully, with Weldon and Perry we can start to accumulate quality players at the most important position in the game. Because we need it.

The only sign that showcases us being back are National Championships.

Dorsey and Derrick Crudup says high

And as far as Dorsey/ Crudup, you proved my point.

NO ONE on Earth would equate Ken Dorsey to Malik Rosier coming out of HS. Coker spent many days in Cali recruiting Dorsey. Dorsey was our TOP choice. Dorsey was not the second QB recruit in his incoming class.

Rosier is Crudup.Which is my point.

Nkosi Perry and Weldon says hi!

How about depth at every position, like TE?

This. For a fun thought experiment, compare our current depth chart to any of the 2000-2003 teams. It's fairly breathtaking what Richt has been able to do. Our 2-deep is littered with freshmen who would be redshirting or only playing STs and journeymen who would never get off the scout team, if they ever got a scholarship at all, or, in the case of TE, literally nothing.

FYI, we didn't have any depth at QB during the Dorsey years either. What do you think happens if Sands or Crudup had to take over?

Bull****. Being back is how we play. The aggression and passion. Eventually the talent will catch up and the results. You could not convince me Golden would ever have us back even if he went 12-0 because it likely was against nobody and would get exposed soon as he played a decent team. I have no doubt he would have gotten drubbed by ND and VT. We have the QB on the roster. We have TEs and a FB coming in. OL should have depth next year or atleast more players who can play.

Yeah, it is a problem. In hindsight, we were very lucky Rosier made it through the regular season without significant injury.

I would add that we also need to get to a point where we can afford to give our backup QB meaningful playing time. Being in tight games into the 4th quarter with teams like 1-win UNC and some of the other average ACC teams on our schedule isn't going to get it done. Right now, we throw in Shirreffs, and it's a deer/headlights situation. For a top 10 program, I think that's inexcusable.

And Ethenic Sands. Geoff Torretta backed up Vinnie. Frank Costa backed up Gino. Go look at Costa's stats. 53.8 completion percentage as a starter. 20 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

That being said I think you have Perry and Weldon with Williams most likely coming in. You have to sign a quality QB every year. Yes, you will lose kids who want to transfer, but you have to sign a prospect who can run your system.

Miami needs to stack chips everywhere.

This team should have/could have won with Rosier. Rosie was one part of the problem against Pitt, but not the entire problem. The real problem, and I'll say it again, the team went soft. There were no real Browns, Sapps or Lewis' to lead this team. Golden's softness is still present to some degree. The talent is there, it's thin but there. They have developed a champions mentality yet.

At this point it's about attitude.

Rosier is good enough to lead this team. There just isn't enough nasty mf'ers on this team yet. So it's not one or two guys fault or the coaches, it's who's not in the locker room yet. And when more of those guys get here, the U will be back.

This! if you think about it, the only time we've been truly stacked at QB were in the 80s.

And Jarren Williams is likely to sign with us. That'll be 3 stud QB's on the roster for 2018 (based on HS reps), and 2 veterans (one of which will have started 15 games)

Senior - Rosier
RS Junior - Evan
RS Freshman - Perry
RS Freshman - Weldon
Freshman - Jaren Williams (Army AA)

That's stacked right there

Crudup was Dorsey's backup.

I'm sorry but depth at QB is tough to get these days. Kids transfer if they don't play.

We're back when we make playoffs every other year, etc.

I started a post 3 weeks ago along these lines but blew it off for fear of the beating I would take for it here. My title was gonna be Rosier is the weak link, and 3 weeks ago you could see what I mean, I knew it going into the year but saw it live v Notre same. Anyway OP is right, if you go back and check every starting QB we have had from Jim Kelley all the way to Craig Erickson ???? has been drafted and drafted pretty high. Then we struck out one after the other, makes me wonder what the **** is going on. I would think QB's would want to come here, it was for years pretty much a guarantee to the league. **** Bama with all those rings can't field a descent QB, they just put a running back in shotgun and roll behind that line, rarely ask him to throw to win a game. I know I mentioned pro style yesterday and nearly got banned lol, give me a big, slow *** guy that will stand in the pocket and make the delivery, look at the guys that are winning super bowls. Big Ben. E Rogers, Tom, M Ryan, Drew Breez, Rivers......these guys are not gonna beat you with their feet but with their arm and their brain. We can he the players to run pro style, we always have, and I figured that's what Richt was gonna do, he was here he saw it first hand and then watched it from FSUs sideline. We may be the ONLY team that can gather that kind of talent, well maybe USC, but that's what I want to get back to. I love the mindset Manny is going after, its our m.o. own the los and have an all out race to the ball, create havoc. We just need to get back to using our SoFlo athletes the way we should, use their skill sets. As far as being back ??? I been telling everybody around here all year we are a QB and a good RB short from really being back, the rest will take care of itself.....Tex

Redshirted in 2000. Sands moved from wide receiver to quarterback. Derrick backed up Dorsey in 2001 and 2002 and Brock in 2003 and 2004. Remember Marc Guillon, he redshirted in 2002? LoL. Coker was stacking chips.

I said you were wrong in another thread that you posted on about Rosier. You were right about Rosier, but I still think the team can win with him. I agree he's not Richt's type of qb, but nobody else is ready yet, so he has to be the guy. I just can't believe the dude wasn't ready friday.

I still think Dallas or Homer can develope into better backs. I'm not giving up on those guys. The o- line is what needs help. And we talked about this on the scout board.

I know what you mean about getting beat up. I started a thread callin the team soft after fridays game. But you know what, they did play soft. So f'em, I called as I saw it. I'm still a fan, but I'm not that big of a homer to deny what happened.

Evans WON'T be on the roster entering fall camp next year! Guarantee it. The dude is a wasted scholarship. OUCH.
