As y’all know the NCAA will allow a player UP TO 4 games in order to use their redshirt…more then half of the 2021 recruits have played in more than 4 games due to injuries and desperation!
How do y’all feel that will affect the depth chart over the next couple of years.. you can’t “stack chips” when you are all in!

I can’t remember a time when we had to play so many freshman and had no one really use their redshirt.

Unless we salvage this recruiting class the impact will be felt as early as next year. If one or 2 of those star freshman that have been balling gets injured it’s gonna be a huge talent drop.
Just look at how many injuries we’ve had this year that we’ve been able to overcome simply because some of the 2nd string players are so talented.

Unfortunately not every position group is built like our safety room.
We still don’t know if we have an answer if Zion leaves.

Last year didn't count so technically all of the 2020 class redshirted.

Whether they stay 5 years or not is the question.

Also, we've redshirted or are set to RS every OL recruit from 2020 and 2021 (Rivers only played 3 games) as well as Haye, Thomas Davis, and Jabari Ishmael on the DL - so we're getting the extra year where it matters.

Don’t think either will ever impact us just my opinion

Thomas Davis definitely will unless he was to transfer.

I hope we get a new staff and DC that stands him up instead of putting his hand in the ground. He would thrive for someone like Aranda that utilizes multiple stand up edge defenders. Maybe even a traditional LB.

I was never a fan of Haye and idk about Ishmael. He was scrawny for sure.

Agreed. Davis has a chance. And he’s a savage on the field. I hope these guys will give the next coach a chance

The Transfer Portal has rendered the Redshirt ineffective in the new era of college football.

Redshirting is overrated, if you have a roster full of talented players you’re not holding onto them for 5 years anyway.

Play the best players, doesn’t matter if they’re TF’s or not, put’em on the field & win some games.

Miami has lost the luxury of being picky about who gets to play based on seniority.

Transfer portal:
Here today, gone tomorrow
I would tap Artificial Intelligence Sabermetrics grad students just to focus on the portal.

No one wants to stay 4 years anymore
Plus with the new transfer rules
These kids aren’t sticking around
So I don’t even think it matters if you rs kids anymore
Esp since last year was a “free” year
What’s the point of rs a guy like Redding
He wouldn’t stay until his 6th year no matter what

Zion isn’t leaving if he wants to be a day 1 take

he plays every game on specials.

This actually isnt a bad group too redshirt. Lots of lineman...plus i think Campbell likely can get a med shirt..Gaynor will be back.

Good group of DBS as well taking shirts.
