UM chose continuity very inexplicably with Shannon, which really put this plane into a nose dive.

Similarly - UM chose continuity after Richt with yet again, a DC with no head coaching experience. Leads to this Pyrrhic Season that will not reach its climax until 2022, 23 or 24.

In 2022, it’s year 4 of the contract. Will it be renewed or not? If renewed, skip 2023, which is when original contract is set to expire. Which leads us to 2024. That’s when we play the Gayts & ND in the same season and it will either propel Manny or sink him & this program into another 4-6 year minimum funk.

This Pyrrhic Season, despite the UNC showing, will help Manny as those with power will be blinded by victory totals.

1) D’Eriq King & Lashlee are responsible for Manny not finishing up with 2-3 wins max. That would’ve led to yesterday being his last day as coach. We could be Florida State if it wasn’t for them. Credit to Manny for bringing those guys in.

2) Big losses: Clemson (2 - one as DC & 1 as HC), FIU, La Tech, UNC (2), Duke (2) GT loses where really bad. Manny should’ve been fired in year 1. He’s just another guy.

3) If no King next year - could turn into 2018 which would speed up the axing in 2022. If he wins another 9-10 games, who knows..

4) Pyrrhic seasons were had by all coaches since Coker:
Shannon - 9-4
Golden - 9-4
Richt - 9-4 & 10-3 (Best of the last 4 coaches)
Manny - 8-2*

The program, once again, is at a crossroads.

A Pyrrhic victory (/ˈpɪrɪk/ (About this soundlisten) PIRR-ik) is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Winning a Pyrrhic victory takes a heavy toll that negates any true sense of achievement or damages long-term progress.

I agree.
I had cautious optimism going into yesterdays game.
The result of the game, and previous results over the last 15 years were the reason why.

UNC 2020 can't happen.
It did.

Year 1 Manny gets a pass.
Not 20 games into his tenure.

My feeling now?
We need to go in a new direction but it wont happen.
