Gotta laugh that this man is gonna be walking around campus on a daily basis.
He was like a **** ghost on the field just reappearing exactly where dudes were throwing it. Players better be on their game cause ER20 gonna be out there taking notes. Go ahead an act like he ain’t watching

Hope he is around quite a bit more than it sounded like he will be, according to his presser. We need him on around a lot!

Wow, never seen that photo. He is the epitome of why recruiting is a crap shoot.

Its not a "crap shoot" if you know what to look for, had butch davis in his tenure only had gotten and recruited just 2 H.O.F., than you might be able to label and put that in the category of a "crap shoot". But when you list how many actual H.O.F. recruits(SEAN TAYLOR, ed reed, wayne, dre, edgerrin james, frank gore(funny & interesting how the guy with the most injuries issues had the longest nfl career at the toughest physically demanding position) wilfork might get in, and how many borderline H.O.F. players)coach davis brought in, that's not a crap shoot, that's a ****'er that knows WTF he's doing. That alone proves how real silly this administration was and still is, to not bring him back. That man has an eye for talent like no other in his profession at the college level. Not only did he bring and recruit H.O.F. talent, but the other players he brought in that wont make it to the H.O.F. but played with the H.O.F.'ers were still top notch, roscoe parrish, mcgahee, portis, Najeh, shockey, mckinney, buchannon, romberg, joaquin, carey and list go on and on.

The UM admin/double agents dont want that kind of Greatness around UM again they just want to talk about it and live off the backs of those who helped to establish and make this program Great, but the real Truth is, only, this program has been irrelevant to the Miami community that made you Great, they might just be smart enuff to be getting back to that!

I agree with almost all of those points. But that's not how I meant "crap shoot". I wasn't talking about Butch Davis, I was talking about Ed Reed. He would be compared to a 2-star coming out of HS these days and barely had any offers. Yet he ends up being the greatest to ever play the position. Then you can scroll down the sites' all-time recruiting rankings and a substantial percentage of those uber elite blue chip recruits never even made the league. That's what I meant with my post.... but yes, Butch had a phenomenal eye for talent, and also the ability to develop that talent.

The "crap shooters" are these nerd recruiting sites that just slap stars on people hoping they stick. If you ask anybody to explain what the difference is between a " 3 or 4 star" recruit, or a "2 & 3 star" recruit, they couldnt tell you, and many times, what exactly is a "5 star" recruit. Than the worst part is now hearing commentators trying to add irrevelantcy to these nerd recruiting sites during games when they say stupid **** like so & so is "not living up to his ranking", no ****'s, so & so didnt rank himself, and how bout somebody just got the eval wrong.

Don't worry, ER20 sees you when your sleeping, he lnows if you've been good or bad...All he needs to do is show up at random times, people won't catch on. So you better be good for goodness sake.

Not disputing anything you wrote.
Butch was the greatest talent evaluater ever.
Only thing I will point out is that Butch didn't recruit Frank Gore. We only started recruiting Gore after Butch left.

Thats not true at all...Soldinger was all over Gore in 2000....Butch always had an open ear for Sarge....

Fair enough...maybe he was waiting for the waiver situation to clear before he offered....but I distinctly remember that we Gore didnt join the class until after Butch left and Coker was name coach.

Butch was fully aware of Gores exploits....and the same goes for SeanTay..even though people continue to say that Butch was uninvolved with Sean Tay....

I'm not sure what Ed could do can be taught. He possessed an uncanny instinct for the game. It's much more than just X's and O's.

Not only was butch davis the best highschool talent evaluator, that **** knew who to bring in to coach and how to lead men. This University is scared of Generals, they always want to try and castrate the real Generals, look at the position reed just took,of course he's limited, that's part of their ghey as playbook, while reed will definitely make and have an impact, why limit him, cause they know ed would bring in the Cavalry!
