Anthony Chickillo was the No. 3 DE in the nation and No. 44 overall player
Chickillo showed promise as a freshman, then we told him to gain 100 lbs.
He showed tremendous promise as a Freshman CAA...but then we tricked off his career here. It still boggles my mind how Chick went from being an UA all-star game MVP, to a 5 sack freshman season, to getting fat, out-of-shape and told to hold position, not rush. This staff is full of straight F*ckeries. We could have the No. 1 class in 2012, 2013, and 2014 and we still would win only 7-8 games per year. We have wasted true talent here. He has used night games as an excuse, day games as an excuse, student classes as an excuse, the cloud as an excuse, family health as an excuse, teams having bye-weeks before playing us as an excuse.....I mean, aren't excuses supposed to be the tools of incompetence, used to build monuments of nothingness, and those who SPECIALIZE IN THEM SELDOM ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING??????? Well I guess we have our answer.
Chick should be happy he gained 60 pounds, now he's actually going to have an actual career in the NFL as a 5 technique. Chick was never some explosive beast like Clowney, the fact that you look at a HS All Star game to attempt to show that means nothing.
Look at how Chick never got blown off the line, and compare him to someone like Wyche who outweighs him by 50 pounds and gets pushed off like hes 100 pounds. The fact is Chick is the only one who actually did a good job on the line.
Just go check this out without any insults or some sort of slu thrown somewhere. Go check out Alabama's defense, a defense everyone would love to have. Now go to their DLine stats, look who the leading sack leader is on the DL, isn't so pretty right? The fact is Florida is suppose to have super duper athletic LBs right? Why not revolve your defense around those LBs? People always complained about McCord droppng into coverage, but guess what? That's what he'll also be doing on sundays. He won't be constantly rushing at the passer like a chicken without a head
check it out.....like i said on a recruiting board, sacks...that's one thing...but this team has avg 1 qb pressure per game and went 3 games this season w/o a qb sack or hit. Go back and look at those stats from Bama and tell me how many qb pressures have been applied by that front four and how many qb hits have been applied by that front four. I'll wait....
Front four?
You mean front 3 or are you now considering one of the olbs part of the 4 DL?
That's the difference between us and Bama, we only have 1 guy who put pressure on the QB (Chick), Wyche got blown apart cus apparently that fat is keeping him off balance, Moten is a freshman along with Jenkins.
The point of the 3 DL in our defense is not get pressure on the QB, yes it is obviously helpful when they can, but it is the LBs jobs. You know Perryman managed to get into the backfield the times he did? That's the DL doing their job correctly along with Perryman doing his job correctly.
That's the position coaches job along with Golden to have the boys be ready to work off one another. For example against FSU when Dalvin Cook ran for two huge runs, the DL did an excellent job engaging their blockers for Kirby to clean up Cook at the LOS but guess what Kirby whiffs on a tackle. Looking at that play it seems like it was an awful playcall or whatnot but in reality the call was correct but Kirby just missed.
That's why when the players say we have to execute they are correct, however to argue that point the coaches themselves have to HELP those same players execute. This is why I personally think Hurlie Brown needs to stop coaching the LBs, move to DB coach, and get rid of Williams and Jethro.
