The Goat... and the other great Goat - Ray on Film Study

I still don't get why we don't just hire him as a full time position coach on staff.

He’s said he wants to get into coaching but I think he’s going to take a couple more years to be with his family and see his kids grow up before he goes full time.

When spoke of this years back ppl said I was crazy!! He doesn't have coaching experience, "how the **** a NFL and college great can't coach"... I definitely agree El, Manny needs to make this guy his Defensive Coordinator... Then do like Deion and hire some other greats to be position coaches, with ER at DC, I know Ray would join maybe even Sapp would come too!! MIAMI has always been trend setters in CFB, set another trend by hiring former greats HONESTLY I don't see many teams matching Miami when it comes to this, unless they hire a lot of younger former players..

What an inspiring take. Amazing no one has ever talked about hiring a bunch of former star players to be coaches.

Maybe Ken Dorsey can be offensive coordinator... right!?

Pro style babyyyy...as Far as these 2 GOATS..I don’t anyone has ever said they can’t or shouldn’t get into coaching but just like anything else in life it’s not all about what you know but who you know. In coaching getting that shot is heavily based on that. RN Ed has his foot in the door at Miam. If it’s something he wants to do, he has a path. and as far as Great players getting opportunities right Away as a pos coach/Coordinator its rare. If it does happen, like I said it’s mainly off relationship. In the NBA same thing. There’s something more to coaching then just knowing the game

Great topic and since we discussing Defense, it ignores the fact that Winston Moss already has all the credentials it'll take Ray and Ed years to get. Imagine if Winston was DC, Ray LB and Ed Reed was secondary coach. That would be the perfect storm for evaluations, recruiting, development and scheme. Before the next counter idiot says it. I'm not saying any of these great Canes interested. If the goal of an organization is to bring in the best personnel then why not engage.

WE ON THE SAME PAGE...
I say we need to get this to our AD and get him on the ball to make this happen!! If Manny isn't with it send his *** packing too... A lot of these elite type coaches we talk about most of them played football in college and some made it higher... I guarantee with these greats on staff #1 MIAMI will get the recruits we REALLY want and we will see a different brand of Miami football on the field!! These guys will bring the same energy as coach's as when they were player's and that's when we will see what recruits are REALLY MIAMI CALIBER...

SOME ppl havr to understand a lot of these greats we talk about were coaches, just not paid coaches!! All throughout their careers these guys coached up the player's they played with, so I mean what more experience you need to coach at Miami if you spent most of your playing career coaching player's you played with and on top of that they mastered the game in their own right.. "Now I would put them coaching the areas they dealt with of course"
BUT FANS ON HERE THINK THEY NEED COACHING EXPERIENCE..
