The Defensive Line

We were without Gerald and Jackson and at it appeared at least 100 of their rushing yards came in the 4th quarter but after 5 turnovers could you blame them?
Whisky gashed and trashed us from their first drive- plus Jon Taylor had 85 yds in the 1st quarter alone- at that rate he should have rushed for 300 plus instead of the “measly” 205 he did gain- what are your excuses now???

Agreed. However, saying it’s better than our Offense is not saying much.
Our fanbase behaves like a chick going through puberty. Diaz did smewhere between okay and really good. Hard to know because our O was so awful, our talent isn’t as clear as our fans think, and Willis was terrific. Just because he doesn’t walk on water doesn’t mean he’s awful, either. What we know for sure is he can let kids play and create pressure. When we had a lead, he was tough to scheme against. But no defensive coordinator would look good tryna back up Richt’s woeful offense.

Many have raved how great Jess Simpson has been after losing Kool. The DL looked good most of the season against ACC and mid major schools but against LSU and Wisconsin whose OL's are at a different level and our DL looked average at best being neutralized with limited push and presence in the backfield. We had an absolute star in Willis who was our best DT in the last decade plus and without him last night we saw how dependent we were on existence to make the others look good. Premier DL's would not get owned by a 7-5 Wisconsin team (yes they have some talent on that OL but so do we on DL). Wisconsin ran for over 300 yards against us running simple off tackle plays for 6-8 yards with ease completely manhandling our front 7 all game long. Personally, am still high on the Simpson hire but by no means am ready to crown his performance this year.
Have you ever played a game where you spent most of the game on the field? You get gassed. That is what happened. We still had 10 tackles for loss so the defense did what they needed to do. Our offense put them in a bad spot numerous times.

To be fair we did go up against the number one running back in the nation Without our 2 best DL players.
The number one running back in the nation- probably true- but let’s examine Jonny Taylor- shall we? His only offers in high school were from Wisconsin, Butgers and Hahhvahd- he wanted to attend the ivy, study astronomy and become a great scientist like his idol- Neil degrasse Tyson- but a big time football program offered him a schollie and he decided to- gasp- sin of sins- at least according to jaromir jagr- use his scholarship to “pave the way to a pay check”- like any sane man would do!!!!
(sorry jagr) ****, most on this board would call Jonny a “golden special” and a Jersey guy no less!!!!! All I can say is why didn’t we sign Jonny Ford last year and DJ Williams and Crowley this year?!!!? Beacause Mork Richt is a senile incompetent- that’s why!!!!!

We had more turnovers than points, and you go after the defense. Get ****ed. By your logic, it's the defense's fault that Rosier's first pass was an interception, and the first pass caught by a receiver happened in the 3rd quarter.
If our offense had been able to do something maybe we force Wisconsin to pass. And maybe it's a much closer game.

I go with those who believe it often takes a while for a DC to make adjustments.

I also believe success by our offense can force an opponent to start passing more.

We did NOTHING on offense

Manny's scheme giveths and takeths. I believe we had the most TFL against them they had all year but we also gave up a ton of rushing yards. I still believe the defense has given us a chance to win every game we've played this year. Both LSU and Wisconsin games were also our worst offensive games all year with 12 turning the ball over 3 times each.

Not worried about it. Wisconsin one of the best running teams consistently with AA’s at RB and OL. Not having JJ and Willis hurt a lot and defense was on the field for 40 minutes. Looked like the defense was in inspired because the offense doesn’t help them at all it’s a shame. Still like Simpson
