Is it just me, or does ESPN keep the one loss teams in the hunt a lot longer than when the BCS was around. I know you've added two more teams but it doesn't make much sense.

The BCS also penalized losses VERY heavily. But hey, why would winning games matter? That's what we have a panel of "experts" for.

I mean the playoff is supposed to find the best 4 teams not the 4 teams with the best record

So they excuse losses for teams they want to be there .

Clemson loses deshaun Watson and Mike Williams and has played every game average outside of VT... Then loses to Syracuse and they are still in..

Why ? I have no ******* idea. They are going based on years prior which is completely against the point.

Just because Kelly Bryant was hurt doesn't mean they can excuse the loss, it's a **** shame the new system completely devalues the idea of a loss

I find your post a little contradictory.......If you want losses to be so important than you are advocating for the best records, not best teams.

With regards to Clemson. They are not just going by prior years. Remember they were #7 to start season, not #1 or #2 if that were the case. They moved up based upon their wins. Beating 3 teams in the top 15, 2 on the road in the first 4-5 games.

Quality wins and the amount you have, has got to matter in the equation as well. I will have more of a problem with a team like Wisconsin with a soft OOC schedule, in a weak division, avoiding the top 3 teams from the other side of B10......making the playoff despite probably not playing 1 team that will finish ranked until the B10CG.

You're absolutely right, but OP is referring to what ESPN is saying (I know, it's an original subject), not the playoff rankings. It will be interesting to see how the two differ, if they even do.

A lot of teams are in the hunt because a lot of teams are going to lose one or two more games this season...

Seems to me that playing Bryant when he is hobbled and cant move like his old self against a D who has already knocked 2 QBs out was a horrible coaching decision. Horrible coaching decisions are part of what makes a team a good team. Clemson should not get a pass because Bryant got hurt they should get penalized for the dumb coaches decision to play him when he was hurt.

We’ll see this year. Since the BCS playoff began its been all Nike schools in the playoff and probably deservedly so, but If they let a one loss school in that’s not Nike I’ll believe in this system. Does anyone know if apparel companies donate directly to the ncaa? I mean UNC got off like A mob boss.
