The Butch Davis/ Al Golden comparisons need to stop.

The program is the best its looked in 15 years ... I could see if the recruiting classes sucked and we just got smoked by fsu by 50 but its not the case... We have a top 10 class... We have #1 class in 16…...

Holy ****.

In that time frame we've won a national title, played for another, beaten FSU 5 straight, won 3 BCS games, and trotted out the greatest team in college football history.

But right now the program is in the best shape it's been in the last 15 years. You should be thrown in solitary confinement and lobotomized for how big of a danger to society you are.

Butch had one good season. He was an underachiever otherwise. Sanctions or not, he did a great job getting NFL talent to fill the starting roles on his teams but was, nevertheless, outcoached over and over again. That said, the "fire Butch" crowd should not to be equated with Golden supporters. While Golden has shown some mild improvement this year, his mind-boggling incompetence and inability to comprehend simple math make it obvious that he is far worse than Butch. Golden will never be able to recruit the sort of talent needed to overcome his game day deficits and lack of killer instinct.

butch won rings as a coorindator in both college and NFL. Golden was around northeast schools that are avg. programs at best.

If butch would of stayed, he would have at least two titles. And he would of keep the program rolling.

We went to four straight BCS bowls with the team Butch put together, going 3-1.

Golden will NEVER even sniff that type of success. In his fourth year we haven't won the ****tiest division in CFB!

butch learned, he fired people. he also was dealing with a nightmare. those of us old enough to remember, it was 100 times worse than golden's situation and butch didnt cry about it.
 
I must have missed people comparing them, but I guess in some areas, it would appear that neither of them are motivators or good coaches. Golden isn't a horrible recruiter but he's not even close to Butch's level, the talent isn't enough to overcome the coaching for Golden. If he was able to recruit that kind of talent,
then I guess the comparisons might have some validity.

Yes, there have been countless ****** Golden Girls constantly harping how there was a banner flown calling for Butch to be fired too. That Butch had to deal with sanctions too. That Butch's first four years were supposedly comparable to Golden's. Yeah, there were idiots trying to compare the two, but they failed and failed miserably.

butch also was following up after 3 coaches who won NC's. Golden inherited a decade of mediocrity. Of course people were hard on butch.
