The 2026 Race to 300

Currently at 189.12, good for #9 in the country.

We also have the 9th best recruit average, at 91.76.

For comparison, 2025 was 90.83.
2024 was 91.00 (when we finished with the #4 class in the country)
2023 was 91.73 (when we finished with the #7 class in the country)

So, adding Cantwell obviously moves the needle bigly. We now have 10 commits, and are well on our way to scaring 300 overall points and securing a ~Top 5 class.

Some names who we are all interested in that would rocket this number:

Adding Calvin Russell, Derrek Cooper, and Canon Pickett pumps the class to 233, with only 13 kids. There are only 3 classes in the country who are higher than 233 at the moment, USC, ND, and Taint.

So we are well on our way here, keep adding elite talent and let's blow this ***** to the moon.

what's considered an ELITE recruit average?

what's considered an ELITE recruit average?

Good question, and probably determined by what you consider to be ELITE.

Top 5? Here is the #5 class by average recruit ranking over the past few years. So somewhere around this number should get you in that Top 5 range, which I definitely consider to be elite.

2025 - 92.46 (Ohio's Taint)
2024 - 92.19 (Oregon)
2023 - 91.82 (Notre Dame)
2022 - 91.82 (Notre Dame -- not a typo, they had the exact same class average, back to back years, both 5th best in the country)
2021 -- 93.35 (Oklahoma)
2020 -- 91.93 (Ohio's Taint)

So, if you can touch close to 92, you're cooking with gas.

As I mentioned above, Miami is currently at 91.76, so that's an amazing start.

Keep adding the chips which are blue.

I was told Mario is cooked and the 10 win season wasn’t being parlayed into recruiting results.

In May.
My only critique with Mario's recruiting has been the imbalance of the classes. Needing to dip so heavy into the portal for DT, linebacker, and db's needs to be rectified. Looks like the db tide is turning, just waiting to see what Hetherman & Lewis can ultimately do.

Not getting Kolojay and maybe another blue chip linebacker would be the only disappointment. That’s an excellent class

This class, but drop Spafford for Lopez and add Tristan Keys, also drop CJ Hester, that might put use over 300 and hopefully we take a lot less transfers.
