Texas HS Coaches Salaries

****!

Where exactly does that money come from? Or does the state just believe in investing that much money into paying coaches.

Aren’t coaches in and around the cities in FL making similar salaries: Miami, Tampa, Orlando, etc?

Had a conversation with last year with a HC of a larger high school in Orlando. Told me his principal looked out for him and pays him as Vice Principal (he’s a Dean of students). He also receives $2,500 annual as a stipend as a HC.

If I had to guess HCs in Orlando are somewhere between $75-85K with a couple of outliers of course.

The booster clubs pay the majority of coaches pay and facility upgrades.

A lot of coaches also make good money off their summer camps. They get to use their school facilities for free, pay their players dirt cheap to come and work, so there is very little OVHD. I know coaches who make more in one month of camps than an entire year of teaching and coaching at the school.

wow. I asked about metro areas because the cost of just living is so high. I’m not saying 75-85k is a bad salary, but as @GeorgiaHurricane noted, the standard in metro Atlanta is easily 100k.

Not knowing the exact numbers involved but the HC of Ocoee HS (which is right outside of Orlando) left Ocoee (2 years ago) to be the DC at McEachern in Powder Springs Ga and from what I heard it money had a lot to do with that… so for HCs that are in class teachers (which I believe he was) pay is a huge difference.

McEachern is a consistently strong program. But i hate reading this because it means that FL high school players will be less and less prepared for college, whereas Texas, GA, and like Ohio and PA, will be just the opposite. That doesn’t mean the FL players won’t catch up, but it does mean they might be 1-2 years behind.

I went to a 3A school in a small town in Alabama and the coach at the time (12 years ago) was making six figures. Granted, it’s one of the most accomplished football programs in the state, but still, seeing some of the stuff Florida coaches deal with at big schools is insane.

Urban Meyer said as much when he was at UF and Ohio State recruiting players in FL. Said the talent is through the roof for the kids, but overall preparedness and football IQ isn't always the best when it comes to FL HS.

My HC when I was at Seabreeze, left and went to Georgia as an OC at Tift because it was double what he was making in FL. Hes now the HC at Lambert High.

urban meyer is lying when his lips are moving.

THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CASE. IM SHOCKED YOU GUYS BRING THIS UP EVERY YEAR.

THE SEAN TAYLORS, FRANK GORES, RAY LEWIS. WILLIS MCGAHEE'S ALL PLAYED FOR VOLUNTEER COACHES NOT MAKING 5K A YEAR FOR COACHING.

In regards to this and the bolded. This isnt factually true. They pay their coaches more...doesnt mean the players are BETTER or less prepared.

Florida kids are generally more prepared because from an early age they have been in more pressure packed situations from the age of 9 than the other states. Florida kids begin playing football at like the age of 5 or 6 thats a lottttttt of football. SOUTH FLORIDA KIDS EVEN MORE SO.
They may be raw and didn play with the bells n whistles or strength and c...but from a straight up walking into college and playing football we are typically more prepared for college than the other states kids. Low key its been the thought on why the great state of texas cant win mnc's because their hs kids are tapped out they are what they are from on the high school level.

I'd like to think its somewhere in the middle in regards to it all. There are just so many **** former college football or local football players in the state that the coaching talent pool is always deep not saying its good but its always deep. MNW can go from michael leee harris (now a div 1 college coach) to a teddy bridgewater to a ton of alumni that would just take it on..we took roland smith from Miami central they didnt miss a beat...we took ice harris from btw he had sons take the jobs they didnt miss a beat.

Its hard to believe this when you have freshman all American teams with like 7 florida kids mentioned on it.

And I mean easily bro. I know Joey King pulls in $219k a year (down from $225k last year lol) and all he does is coach. That’s it. Buford coach I believe all he does is coach so does the Rome coach
