Tashawn Manning is a 6'4" 280lbs DT/SDE in the 2016 Class who will quickly grow into to a 300+lbs Nose Tackle / Def Tackle in college which Miami needs badly for the 2016 class.

The 2* Wekiva HS player from Apoka, FL is currently committed Auburn but with the bevy of highly rated DT's available this year I can see Manning being dropped by Auburn in favor of other recruits. But don't think of this as a slight to Manning's ability, recruiting unfortunately sometimes is a numbers game when it comes to roster management given the 85 scholarship limit.

Here is an article link about how Manning fits into Auburn's plan for the 2016 class as an insurance incase they miss on higher profile players
2016 Defensive Tackle Tashawn Manning Commits to Auburn - College and Magnolia

Manning is a quality interior D-linemen that plays with very good leverage and power through the hips and has long arms to disengage blockers when collapsing the pocket from any position across the dline.

The ace in the whole for Miami to swoop in here is Manning's head coach at Wekiva is former UM great Kenard Lang, the only issue is whether Miami's current staff will reach out to Coach Lang about his hidden gem of a player. Well not so hidden because Manning had early offers from UNC, Pitt, WVU, and NC State all of whom had hoped to secure his commitment before he could become highly sought after.

Lets see if Al Golden and Randy Melvin can at least get young Mr. Manning an his family to take a visit down to Miami, then the Canes should be cooking from there.

‘Auburn got a steal'
Bryan Matthews June 23, 2015

AUBURN, Ala. | When it comes to high school football in central Florida, Max Purcell has accumulated a wealth of knowledge.

The Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva assistant, who has coached in the area for 30 years, has seen his share of top prospects. And he's convinced Wekiva defensive tackle Tashawn Manning, who committed to Auburn Friday, is one of the best.

"I think Auburn got a steal," Purcell said. "He's one of the best kids out of central Florida and he's one of the best to come out of here in the last 5-10 years.

"He's 6-4, he wears a size 17 shoe, he's 275 pounds, no fat on his body. He's got excellent lower body strength. His takeoff, his first 10 yards is as good as anybody coming off the ball."

As Wekiva's offensive line coach, Purcell gets a firsthand look at Manning's ability every single practice.

"He's just a weapon. We just can't get underneath him," Purcell said. "To have that kind of hips to stay low and blow people up, he's just phenomenal. In two years, I've never seen him get knocked off the ball.

"He's always in the backfield when the ball is snapped. He's always two yards in the backfield. He does a great job of playing with his head up and his shoulder pads down and tackling with his hands."

Purcell said Manning has the maturity and mental toughness to be an early contributor at Auburn.

"He's one of those kids, if you praise him, he's really humble, and he takes criticism the same way, very humble. He's just a very coachable kid," he said. "He's one of those kids that you can push real hard. He takes the challenge on and accepts that challenge."

It's not just on the field that Manning has excelled.

"In the school and community, he's a positive role model for everyone," Purcell said. "His teachers love him. He's a gentle giant. He's one of those kids that everyone has great things to say about him in the classroom, off the field. His mother and father did an excellent job raising him."

Manning is one of three players from Orange County currently committed to Auburn in the 2016 class. Manning, West Orange quarterback Woody Barrett and First Academy defensive end Daquan Newkirk all previously played at Evans High School, where Purcell previously coached.

Auburn assistant coach Scott Fountain was the lead recruiter for all three.

"Those are the three best kids in central Florida and Auburn did a great job getting them," Purcell said. "They all went to different programs and they're all outstanding players at their programs."

Another DL commit
Bryan Matthews June 19,2015

AUBURN, Ala. | Auburn picked up its second defensive line commit in as many days Friday from Tashawn Manning.

The standout from Wekiva High School in Apopka, Fla., chose the Tigers during a two-day visit, which began Friday.

"I committed to Auburn," Manning said. "I talked it over with my parents and we decided Auburn was the best school for me. It feels exciting. Next fall, I'll be a War Eagle."

Manning, 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, was offered by Auburn two weeks ago. He picked the Tigers over close to 20 offers including North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, South Florida, UCF, East Carolina and Indiana.

He informed head coach Gus Malzahn and assistant Scott Fountain of his decision.

"They were really excited," Manning said. "They did a great job recruiting me. Coach Fountain is a great guy and great coach.

"They want me to play at both the nose and defensive tackle."

Manning doesn't have plans to visit other schools.

"I think it's over," Manning said of his recruitment.

Manning played against Auburn freshman Chandler Cox in high school.

"Apopka is a big rival and it will be a good thing to play with him," Manning said.

Manning is Auburn's 10th commitment for the 2016 class. He was teammates with Auburn commitments Woody Barrett and Daquan Newkirk at Evans High School.
