This is definitely not a thread to sit there and defend the latest debacle loss. It actually has nothing to do with it. It has to do with why we have been *** for so long (aside from coaching).
You may hear how the Canes have had 123 draft picks since 2000 and rah rah rah. It is a bull**** paper fantasy of a number. Let me explain.
2000 - 2006 = 53, average 7.6
2007 - 2022 = 70, average 4.4
That is over 3 players drafted per year more in our heyday. But it gets worse.
2000-2006 Average round drafted =3.07
2007 - 2022 Average round drafted = 4.15
2018 - 2022 Average round drafted = 4.75
How many first rounders
2000 - 2007 = 24, over 3 per year
2008 - 2022 = 7, half a first rounder per year
At the most important position of QB we've had garbage. Dorsey and Kayaa were the only two drafted in the 7th and 6th round. Not shocking of course. Yes I hear you can have one Tom Brady or one Aaron Rogers drafted late. We have had none of that.
