Takeaways from last night

From some of the comments - it would appear that we barely squeaked out a win last night. First game. A close call.

Anyone here actually know what all we have in the toolbox? Anyone here see beyond this game, and has a full understanding of why some plays were called and some - not? Anyone ever play cards? You conceal your cards - or do you try to prove how bad you are by holding and showing the faces to the other players?

We sure didn't show anyone that we can run last night. Some here have been talking up our running game - so why didn't we demonstrate it? Didn't need to? Saving it for someone else? Or were all the "insiders" just FOS?
 
Stanfords goal on defense was clear: take away the run. We ran down every teams throat in the playoffs. This was expected for me. Of course our running game didn't look good...there were 8 guys in the box.

That is also why Toney was able to score at will.

I would bet when we go to clemson, we rush for 200 yards. Now that we have shown what we got, teams can't play that style against us again.

Another person here who doesn't actually watch the games.

Just compares last years end of season results with an entirely different roster to an actual game that was just played in real life.
 
OL play was fine on pass pro, but struggled to get movement in the run game. I predicted that Stanford would sell out to stop the run. I would have done the same thing with an inexperienced OL because every DC is supposed to try to confuse an inexperienced OL with pressure and blitzes . One thing I am confident in is the best OL coaches in college football, Cristobol/Mirabol, will get that fixed over the next two games.

The Canes will be a balanced team run/pass under Cristobol . That is the championship formula. The OL will have no choice but to get better in the run game.

This Stanford team is better than the score. I would not be surprised if Stanford makes a bowl game this season
 
Agree on #1

We don’t need to lead the nation in runs between the guards for an average of 2.1 ypc….which turns out to be 3.1 yards AFTER contact

Bro we were told Wilson would have double digits sacks and against the one of the worst OLs (their best was out) we will see this year he had zero pressures and zero tackles. He looked good against our OL. Who also didn’t look good. He also didn’t start.

Those extra men didn’t cause the OL to get zero push on almost every single run play.

My only complaints are the secondary and OL. The secondary left too many wide open receivers. The OL didn't open any holes for the RBs and on many of the throws Mensah was getting hit. I didn't like that. Otherwise our team. Looked good

Dawson has been at Miami longer than he was at Houston so idk why you think this is relevant lmao

All yall know about run schemes is up the middle or outside. Wouldn’t even know when marty and mallory went outside it was the same “up the middle” playcall lol.

And whats funny is he called up outside runs and they got stuffed too
