Anyone else worried about tackling Etienne in space? That’s my biggest concern. Lawrence will make some plays here and there regardless. I think we match up well in the secondary. Their Oline is mediocre so I don’t see them gutting is up the middle all night. Tackling Etienne on the perimeter is the key to the game IMO. I’m worried we haven’t had the reps to do it well all game.

I feel really good about all other phases

Anyone else?

Etienne was also their leading receiver last week. Stop him, you stop Clamson.
And Rogers. That offense is all about those two guys. The outside WR aren’t scary. I’d have Blades follow Rogers all night and let Ivey/Couch take the outside guys.

He's a first round back (assuming those exist anymore, but y'all know what I mean). He's really good. If you guys are gonna throw yourselves on the floor if he breaks a tackle, you're in for a long night. But we just have to at least slow him down, gang tackle, and make sure the 3 yard gain only turns into a 13 yard gain and not a 73 yard gain when he does break the tackles he's going to break here and there.

But he's a special player. He's as good as it gets at the position nationally. He's going to make every defense he plays this year look bad. I'm sure this board expects us to limit him to 3 yards a touch, but that's not realistic. Just make him work, hit his *** hard when he gets the ball, and get him down in space more often than not.

Tackling and penalties will be absolutely key during this game. We CANNOT kill ourselves with a bunch of holding and false starts. Fortunately, because of Covid, they won’t have a full compliment of DL to confuse our offensive line. So really, there’s no excuse for false starting.

I'm concerned about McCloud taking 6 weeks to recognize plays and get out of his default stance. He is a big part of why we are struggling to defend the run. Boy has no instinct and slow diagnostic ability on run plays. By the time he recognizes the pulling guard is blocking him

Open field tackling has been poor. Guys are in position to make plays but are not getting it done. I hope the team finds time between meetings of the Social Justice Council to work on this.

Ironic how poorly the team tackles despite the emphasis that’s put on it, isn’t it
