Sustained Winning

Every coach wanted to stay here for longer than 3/4 years lol they just sucked besides richt, so who cares how much he cares

He knows it’s about results, there shouldn’t be grave given because aww he cares lol
Richt gets a lot of love because he had two pretty good years out of three but in fairness, his recruiting was trash. His best players were Al Golden recruits and the team talent level really fell off a cliff when the Golden recruits left. Look at the 2018 and 2019 rosters. The only reason 2020 was a mild success was because we brought in a bunch of transfers, including the quarterback.

Agreed but i give him grace because he was really at the end of his career after uga and prolonged it to help his alma mater out. Any other smart school would have planned it out so his successor was close by…not manny diaz tho lol

I mean it’s common sense. Good teams are consistently good. Having a single 10 win season sandwiched between a bunch of 7 win seasons doesn’t make you good. It means you had A good season.

The real elite level programs, the ones who make the playoffs every year and pull top 5 recruiting classes are consistent. They win EVERY year. Not just one good season and then falling back to average the next season.
This is why I don't buy the 1-2 year "rebuild" everyone on here clamors about. We aren't trying to be TCU or Washington. We want to win every year. I'll take 5-7 years of 10 win seasons over 1 year of getting to the NC just to get molly-whopped.

Nobody says 1 or 2 year rebuilds HAVE to be short term. You can rebuild a program in a year or two these days because the transfer portal exists. It’s not an either/or situation.

Richt also donated $1m of his salary to improve facilities, and helped raise the alarm about how far behind we were against the SEC schools in funding, personnel, etc.

He hired nutritionists and more staff and had the cache as a former SEC coach for over a decade that the bozos at Miami begrudgingly listened to him

He did a lot for us as a program and he has my respect for that

Data doesn't tell the entire story. What coach has wanted to remain at the U for longer than a 3/4 year stint? Gotta give coach MC some grace, while he may not be the best coach, dude cares a **** ton about the program and seems determined to work his *** off to get it back to a winning program. After a couple of decades of meaningless football, with a surprise season or two sprinkled in, I think the trajectory of the program is much better than it's been in quite a while, total wins or not. Preseason ranked 19 last season, preseason rank 10 this season, let's keep the Canes in the top ten conversation year in and year out MC. I think he's building that. Go Canes
Right, it's difficult to have sustained success if there is a turnstile at HC. That's why I'm optimistic about MC. We're starting to see after 3 years that given time, the man can build a roster. Now the question is, can Mario get this team into consistent playoff/championship contention?

Remains to be seen, I think the man continues to improve but the Syracuse loss really baffled me re: gameday coaching. That said, I'm hopeful.

We need to continue building the floor. 9 wins needs to be the floor. With the offensive line we should consistently have 9 wins has to be the absolute floor in the ACC. Realignment will maybe change my opinion
