Who does Memphis have? Has it been the same person for a while now? They constantly overachieve in football and have shown a willingness to make hires.
Again, WHY? If Gino wasn't a Miami Heisman winner, would you even consider him? Once again, has never worked in college athletics outside of a part time gig broadcasting. He's even less qualified than Highsmith and that's saying something. Did you people not pay attention to the Pat Haden years at USC? How about Nebraska right now with Trev Alberts(Although it's early on in his tenure)? Hiring some ex jock with minimal relevant experience is a recipe for disaster. The AD position isn't the same as it was 60 years ago, when teams just gave the title to the head football coach as a courtesy and an excuse to bump his salary.I have heard Gino Toretta’s name mentioned. Well connected in business, has contacts in media, finances, and still involved in college sports through broadcasting.
Coach Meier has no interest in being an AD, even though she may be good at it. She'd raise money like no one's business and she's been a hotbed of assistants moving on to bigger and better, so she can identify coaches. She lacks relevant administrative experience, and due to her positive experience with Jenn Strawley, she'd likely keep her around, which is something I don't want to see(I'm good with letting Strawley oversee non revenue sports like she once did, but it ends there) That said, I'd rather keep her where she is, and hope she can get the program back to where it was 4 years ago. This year's team does look promising, just need to be consistent.Alonzo Highsmith
