We lost this game because we have weak ST's. Missed FG when we needed it, dropped punt that changed the game and only one decent return on KO. Granted, the Gators ST's might be the best unit on their team, but this game was ultimately lost because their ST's outplayed our ST's by a long way. Manny needs to get a ST's coach who is really good and make this a priority.

Also, allowing their punter to convert on the fake punt.

It's hard to judge special teams by the responsibility of 2 players. The field goal team did its job. The punt return team did its job. Please tell me how this qualifies for "special team failure"

Disagree. Chip shot field goal to close to 23-24 missed, Muffed punt by JT4, and allowing a punter to convert a 4th down run. These were huge plays in the game. Each unit is judged collectively not individually.

Its been a problem for the last 4 head coaches because we dont believe in special teams. Hire a full time special teams coach until we get it right. Looks like we dont rep special teams enough every year

Diaz put a guy who has never been a ST coach (he worked with sp teams at La Tech but not coach) in charge of the worst performing unit. #Bad decisions

He knew it was problem and did nothing about it. I hope it blows up in his face and Patke can take a hike. What’s the point of having 2 LB coaches and 2 DB coaches... ***** retarded

But how is a muffed punt and a miss chip shot FG on the ST coach?

I think it's similar to the question, "How can 10 sacks and an almost non-existent O in the 2nd half be the coaching staff's fault? They aren't on the field!!" When you see one fluke play happen, you chalk it up to human error. When you see multiple things go wrong, or just not done efficiently and with excellence, then that's coaching.

Blaming coaches for a single muffed punt or missed FG is ridiculous.

Then every team in the country is a special teams failure, by OP's definition.

The punting game was much improved. And yeah UF converted the fake punt but we converted the fake FG so that equals out

I respect you opinion, but I do think it's hard to argue that UF's ST's didn't outplay ours by a wide margin and in a close game like this, it made the difference. I wonder if Beamer would mind coming out of retirement for his old nemesis....

In fairness the dropped punt or the missed field goal is not really on the ST coach IMO.
Now if a kick or a punt gets blocked or tge coverage teams give up big yardage then yes its the ST coach.

We have them 17 points off ST. BaXa, Thomas, and the fake. BaXa did the same crap last year. I let it goes because he was a freshman. Is there not anyone else who is consistent with chip shots? Let bubba just kick and long shots. JT turned sidewise to catch it, basic basic taboo. That’s coaching IMO just like the fake was coaching IMO.

On punts deep in our territory we need a guy like Dallas there who is extremely intelligent deciding wether to catch it or letting it go.

As much as we are upset a bout the muffed punt we gotta do a better job on blocking on punt return. Seems like after watching the game again we are taking plays off on punt return as far as blocking. The gunners from Florida are seen getting down the field effortlessly and not giving Thomas enough room to work with. Maybe if we blocked the gunners better Thomas recovers the muff punt.
