I have a lot of hope for this season but here are some horrendous stats to overcome in 2016 from last year.

We were not a very good team scoring-- # 71 out of 128 teams nationally.

Scoring D was bad too # 77

One of the worst in avr/yds /rush # 112

Even worse stopping the run # 115

We didn’t get many 1st downs # 93

Our opponents got a whole bunch of 1st downs # 103

Dead last in the country in penalties # 128

Not very good in tackling the opponent behind the LOS # 96

Terrible on 3rd down conversions # 107

Once in the redzone ,we couldn’t get TDs # 111

Opponents consistently had plays of +10 yds against us # 84

We couldn’t cover punts # 100

There are only a 128 teams so we couldn’t be much worse in some of these categories.

Lots of room for improvement this year.

And we still won 8 games and had the potential to really win Cincinnati, FSU, and Washington State. And Richt should really improve pretty much every one of those stats this year.

If we cut all those rankings by a half, it would only solidify us as a 10 win season with the outside potential for 11. That would be a successful Year 1 for CMR

Oh my god this is like reading about a mass casualty event.

Third down conversions are where it's at. You increase that substantially and ALL your stats get better. We had too many drives that were over before they started due to X-Box Coley out thinking himself. Good coaching and our O becomes the most lethal we've had since 2002. Do that and our D tees off.

I'm trying to ignore that fact that al golden is a person and that he ever had anything to do with my football team, but ****. It still makes me furious that we sucked so badly in so many ways and that fat ****** pretends like it wasn't his fault. Like the cloud made us hold and jump off sides. The ******* cloud made us run a scheme that involved watching a RB run past then following him to the end zone. Imma punch that fat ****** right in his fat mother ******* face.

The people that hired him are the ones that make me angry. He didn't TRY to stink, he just did. We get what we pay for, and we paid for pure crap the last three hires.

Turnover margin and penalties are the big ones. I think with better coaching and more talent most of the other areas will improve. Need to cut down on the penalties and improve in turnover margin. I believe with a more disciplined team (they respect the coach now) all areas will improve. I also believe, since we have better coaching, we will be in better down and distance situations which will by itself make most of our areas improve. No more shotgun on goal line and short yardage situations. No more play action when it's 3rd and 20. No more 3 down linemen on defense when they are on the goal line and our LBs are 5 yards deep.

***I think we will drastically improve in every category you mentioned above***

Stat to overcome? How bout game day attendance?

I notice when ever a poster talks about actually going to games no one responds. Why is that??

Because they are the reason for those empty seats. I am part of that too.
During the Goldie era, they lost every game I attended minus UF. That was some expensive **** to watch when you add in all the travel costs.

It wasn’t all bad. We did okay in:

FG % #21 . So even though we were very good when we attempted FGs, we attempted way too many # 7.

A lot of yds through the air. Passing O #29

We contained opponents on KO returns #20

We were ok at protecting the QB #34 .

We did well converting 4th downs #11

And the one stat that I believe more than any other is the reason we won 8 games instead of just 6…Turnover margin #10. We protected the ball well (-14) and caused plenty of turnovers (+25).

Wish they were back, I'm bummed

I agree that Al Golden was a hard stat to overcome last year. As were Donofrio and Coley, who unlike Golden lasted the whole year.
