I don't usually post. I have been a die hard canes fan since the early 80's and I love this U. The kids played hard last night and never quit. The score should of been more like 24-14 clemson it was a murphy's law type of game. If I told you before the game we would cause 3 turnovers, hold clemson to 77 yards rushing on 41 carries and 320 total yards every cane fan would take it. Well thats what we did.
What we saw last night was a better team who had been there before and were executing vs a jacked up team who lost composure. If Rosier hit Thomas on the first possession we are 7-7 and maybe our kids settle in but it did not happen if we record those 2 fumbles we keep 14 points of the board. There is an old expression it is hard to beat a team twice in a season. The Truth we could play clemson 10 times this year and we would lose every-time. They are a better team with better starters better backups and better coaches they are an elite team and we should strive to become that.
The U is two years away from becoming Elite we need depth we need talent and its on the way. When we can redshirt freshman instead of expecting them to play right away we will truly be back. I think its been great to watch all these young kids get on the field but we all know a year in the weight room, film room, and on the scout team would do wonders for these kids. If we can start redshirting we won't look inferior in strength against the elite teams.
Coaching:
Love the whole Defensive coaching staff but there is a glaring weakness we allow all these team get their qb's into a rhythm early with the dink and dunk crap. I don't know if it is because we have depth problems with the secondary but it has to stop we have to become disruptive early.

I like the RPO offense but we are running it like we have pre-k kids. Just look at all the wrinkles clemson uses. I know its the first year but we have to pick up the pace of the evolution of the offense. I have seen the dive plays the sweep plays and the quick toss but we need to see all of that in one game not just one of those things per game. I want jet sweeps, te's pulling left leading rb on counters, toss sweeps, rb sweeps, dive's ,qb keepers, I would love to see down and outs where the **** did they go in football?

I don't think we are far off depth need's to be addressed, kids need to stay and not leave early, Mark walton dumb decision, and our 2 Dt's need to stay. Richt has to evolve as a play caller, qb competition should be wide opening this spring and then decision made, defense staff has to attack early

We're two classes away from being at Clemsons level. We don't have the dudes like they do.

There's holes ,we have just had a easy schedule and caught some breaks. And that's real.

We're headed on the right direction but we overachieved this year , especially with the ol , qb and depth.

Nice post.We have ALOT of holes but this next class will fill a lot of those and the 2019 class will fill the rest of them.
 
Mark Walton leaving is the manifestation of the new paradigm of a pro running back's "short shelf life." Years ago, if eligible, a back would do what Nick Chubb has done (and been criticized for in some circles): Stay to get video being healthy, productive and "back to form." Obviously, Willis McGahee is a well-known example going back almost 15 years ago, but his durability is only surpassed by fellow 'Cane Frank Gore.
 
Way ahead of 2 years ago but still a long way to go. With our OL and our QB how many coaches out there would have 10 wins with this team. Play calling would not seem near as bad if we had a QB that could hit the water standing on a fishing pier. To say the least our offense was offensive. Good offenses have good execution on the play called. Some say Perry should have played. He may or may not have done better but it would have been like throwing him to the wolves for the most part. Could have totally destroyed his confidence. This team.was not ready top to bottom for the really elite teams regardless of who the QB was

Two classes away is the standard conventional wisdom. It's been that way for decades. Among one fan base after another. And far more often than not it is wrong. The need is more than two classes, if it ever happens at all.

I sample many team message boards and have since the late '90s. Mostly for betting purposes, to see what they are saying. I can't count how many near-miss teams use that two-classes away summary. It should be patented, like Pat Riley and Threepeat.

Heck, I remember writing that in the USC student newspaper in the early '80s. Regarding the basketball team, not the football team. We had a surprisingly good season and suddenly I was hearing from within the program and all around campus that we were only two classes away. Not long after writing it I laughed at the absurdity.

If we are two classes away then those two classes need to be loaded with first round picks. Otherwise...no
 
Even though we got beat like a redhead stepchild that just got caught ******** a billy goat, we're still headed in the right direction...
 
We’re two classes away from having solid depth across the board.

But we need more special players to get to elite. We need N’Kosi Perry to live up to the potential. We need Ahmon Richards to rebound and come back strong. We need Belvin Jordan to be the next great TE. Lorenzo Lingard to be the next great RB. We need Trajan Bandy, Amari Carter and Jon Garvin to improve upon strong freshman seasons. Jon Ford to emerge and replace departures at DT.

And we need to build up the OL. Other than QB this is a glaring weakness.

Great Post! We lack depth at key positions. Has it been mentioned that we have a junior high punter, lol?

I think Richt is running as complicated an offense as he can. I can't believe that he just hasn't thought of more plays or just doesn't want to run them, there's no way you get this far with that level of willful ignorance. He watches practice and doesn't think the guys can do it yet, and as much as that sucks I have to assume he's right.

Miami needs to keep recruiting the player's they are recruiting under CMR and this Miami program will be elite.. After watching last night's game, Miami just doesn't have the talent top to bottom like teams like Clemson!! When Miami has a starter goes down, it's a big drop off because we usually have to move player's from one position to another and it throws everything off.. It's all about getting the type of depth we need, I think the Storm18' group will provide much needed depth.. As we notice throughout the season the freshmen player's was all over the field for this team!! And when the upperclassmen are the back ups then that means we will have depth issues and that's what it was.. Our Canes aren't a great team BUT our Canes are not far off..

Good original post however I agree with Kryptonite ---- our starting RB plays Special teams - they have 4 studs. Our QB isnt fast and not accurate. Our OL needs a lot of work
